Two beautiful local scenes by Graham Webber ROI EAGMA…

“I am passionate about landscape painting and work as much as I can from life. Everything you experience on the spot feeds into the work and that knowledge is carried through each and every painting. Working on larger paintings in the studio allows me to reflect on what I have learnt and offers the opportunity to develop it further.” Graham

“I have always regarded drawing as the seminal process from which all art forms grow. Drawing as mark making is an intrinsic part of being human; everybody does it but developing a language of drawing and painting that can express feelings and emotional responses is one of my aims.
My paintings are concerned with landscape, both in broad expanse and in close up detail and express both the dramatic and subtle ways in which light transforms a subject. A recurring theme in my work is the depiction of water, as it provides a consistent challenge” Deborah

We have a collection of pieces by Robert E Wells RBA NEAC in both our Holt and Stamford galleries.

“I am interested in the physiological impact painting has on the observer.
I try not to state any specific narrative, but instead allow the viewer to form their own connection.
To me, a painting that touches someone is the most rewarding aspect I could ever hope to achieve” Robert

Martin Leman was born in London in 1934. He attended Worthing School of Art & The Central School of Arts & Crafts, London. After working in design and advertising as well as lecturing in Graphic Design at Hornsey College of Art, Martin began painting seriously in 1971 and exhibited at The Portal Gallery, London.

Since that time he has shown paintings in galleries across the UK and beyond. His paintings of cats formed the basis of over 20 books, and made him well known at home and abroad - especially the USA and Japan.

Martin is a member of The Royal Society of British Artists and The Royal Watercolour Society. He shows work regularly at the RA Summer Exhibition, The Mall Galleries and Bankside Gallery.

The perfect present to find under the tree on Christmas morning …

“A returning client recently commissioned me to create three playful piglets to complement the life-sized Kune Kune Sitting Pig I had previously sculpted for them.
These piglets were a thoughtful anniversary gift, each representing one of his children, with a hint of their unique personalities.

I was excited to take on the project, not only because of the charming subject but also because it offered a more accessible option for those who love the larger pig sculpture but may not have the space or budget for it.

Sculpting domesticated animals is something I truly enjoy, as it connects people with the wonderful traits of these creatures and encourages awareness of their welfare. Plus, it’s always rewarding to present familiar subjects in a fresh, artistic way.” Tanya

We have a beautiful display of still life paintings on show in our Holt gallery by Sussex based artist Olivia Tuck.

Light has always been integral to Olivia’s work. Her paintings achieve a beautiful balance of colour and light in everyday objects. Overlaid with a highly decorative style with rich textures and a keen eye for pattern, the result is luminous and joyful.

It’s the last day to catch our incredible local artist Brian Ryder ROI demonstrating his painting skills…

His solo show ‘40…Going on 80’ will finish at 4pm today.

“I have enjoyed painting for over 50 years working alongside full time employment in Architecture until 1994. Painting and teaching in the UK and abroad culminated in 6 tutorial videos and the publication of four books.

My work has been exhibited with The Royal Institute of Oil Painters in London every year since 2008 and I take pride in never having any painting rejected since my first submission. Elected as a full member of the ROI in 2011, I was privileged to serve on the Council for 6 years.

Painting in the comfort of my small studio, I now draw upon my years of knowledge and love of the landscape. In every painting I try to capture a feeling of atmosphere in the scene, choosing not to depict an accurate illustration. My work is associated between Impressionist and semi-Abstract” Brian

This exhibition showcases a year’s worth of work for Brian and demonstrates his varied painting styles.

“A painting requires a little mystery, some vagueness and fantasy, is easy when you don’t know how … but very difficult when you do” Edgar Degas 1834-1917

Brian will be joining us again today for another painting demonstration during his solo show ‘40… Going on 80’

“This exhibition represents my latest collection of 40 works, all completed this year … 2024 being my 80th year of age. They reflect a combination of styles revealing the various ways I paint depicting what I seek in my heart and head.

Apart from being in a position to exhibit my paintings at The Mall Galleries in London each year, I have continually shown my work at Adrian Hill Fine Art in Holt, Norfolk and Stamford, Lincolnshire. I exhibit in relevant exhibitions at The Gallery, Holt in Norfolk and have work included in various other UK Galleries.

Paintings are now held in private collections in the UK, Europe and USA. I feel fortunate to be able to continue painting and hope you enjoy my latest collection” Brian
