𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀: 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬?

This is the most common type of damage that we see on worktops and in bathrooms. When anything acidic comes into contact with marble or limestone is reacts with the calcium carbonate in the stone and creates what is called an etch mark.

This usually looks like a dull or white patch. It cannot be wiped away but the good news is that it can usually be restored. The damage is only on the surface of the stone. A quick buff by a professional and the damage is gone.

The process to return the Petra Grey to its original condition required 4 stages of diamond restoration. The team used different equipment for the edges to ensure that not an inch of the worktop was missed.

Project 339 Make it Grey

Petra grey creates a truly exquisite worktop. It oozes luxury and sophistication. Like many stone types, it is sensitive to acid meaning that any acidic liquids or foods that come into contact with the surface will leave an etch mark.

Choosing a honed finish will help to mask this and can help to reduce the need for a professional maintenance visit. The most important thing is the remember not to be scared to use your marble.

Almost any mark that you can make, we can unmake and give you back the beautiful surface that was first installed.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but perfection and longevity are not the same thing.

Allowing a little natural wear will add character to your stone. The patina that it develops over time tells the story of its journey in your home. However, it is important to look after your stone too.

Using the right cleaning products and methods is simple but important. It is the little things every day that will make sure it lasts forever.

Whenever we work with travertine, filling the holes is part and parcel of the process. This is carried out by hand using either grout or epoxy resin depending on the type of travertine.

Project 103 Holey moley

Our client moved into her property and discovered a stone floor that she couldn’t identify but spotted that it had holes all over it. This is a key characteristic of travertine so we instantly knew how to help. Although the pits of travertine are one of its defining features, it can also be the downfall. Over time when the filler becomes loose, the holes will fill with dust and dirt. This can leave an overall dullness to the floor.
