On a cold but gloriously sunny January day our group met in the warm surrounding of Dunsden Village Hall to learn some basic Needle Felting techniques. Our tutor Linda Cookson’s enthusiastic love of this craft and clear instructions soon had us madly stabbing away at the wool she provided and it wasn’t too long before weird and wonderful toadstools started appearing. All agreed that the workshop had been good fun and were delighted when Linda added the finishing touch to our toadstools by producing small LED candles to fit inside . A truly enjoyable workshop!

Working with a live model & under the expert guidance of Jenny Halstead, we made a variety of sketches & portraits which we  later used to create a painting where our model was variously depicted  enjoying a glass of wine, asleep on the beach and poolside in the Caribbean!
It was a very intense & rewarding day which left everyone wanting to do more figure drawing.

Not all of our artists use paint for their pictures. Jenny Law made ‘Hope’ out of a sculpture she made from of old leather wallets.
She enjoys experimenting and not knowing quite what is going to happen.
Jenny also work in oils and acrylics ‘Green Landcape’ is one of these pictures.
At the moment Jenny is working on a series using graphite powder, rust, glues and seeds and other materials lying around.

Our Autumn Exhibition has a range of art and crafts and some members have entries in several categories. Barry Wall is one such member. He is an experimental artist based in Reading and has been a member of the Henley Arts & Crafts Guild since 2016.
Art works are created using paper and printed acetate cuttings to create collages and ceramics are often fused with glass.
His favourite colours are green and blue, inspired by nature, woodland, water and by living close to the River Thames.

Come and see them!

A fun workshop delivered by Karen Wicks with clear instructions and helpful, individual support. All were delighted to have successfully completed a professional looking lampshade to take home and display with pride. A most enjoyable workshop held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

New member Kerry Webb has entered both framed and unframed pictures. The latter are mounted and ready to be popped into a frame of your choice.

Kerry paints in oils and her entries are inspired by local landscapes and travels to the West Country.
She says about her framed entries:

Angel, Remenham churchyard - I’ve always been fascinated by monuments in churchyards and cemeteries and have painted quite a few recently. Last autumn someone tipped me off about this beautiful angel at the church of St. Nicholas in Remenham, she really is a fine example

Cookworthy Knapp (nearly there) - for anyone who visits south Cornwall regularly, this clump of beech trees should be familiar. They are alongside the A30 near Lifton and are often called the ‘nearly home’ or ‘nearly there’ trees, they always signal to me that we are close to our holiday destination.

Cornish summer sea - there is nothing quite like the blues and greens of a Cornish summer and the view out to sea from the Camel estuary is just stunning, couldn’t resist painting it!

Do come and see them!
