Well… what a summer it’s been! 🩵

As the six weeks holidays come to an end, we’ve finally had a moment to come up for air and say a HUGE thank you. It’s been wonderfully busy, slightly chaotic and so much fun. We’ve loved seeing so many of you through our doors!

Now we’re heading into one of our favourite months in Cornwall… September. 🌊

Behind the scenes we’re busy making, sourcing and refreshing the gallery, with new displays and plenty of lovely things coming for the seasons ahead.

And we’re not going anywhere! Open 7 days a week throughout September, 10am to 4:30pm.

Thank you for such a wonderful summer. We can’t wait to see what September brings! 🩵

August moments ☀️

A little roundup of life lately at the Lizard. August has been full of beautiful blue-sky days, new finds for the shop, handmade treasures arriving on our shelves and, of course, plenty of time spent soaking up those incredible coastal views.

We’ve squeezed in a few little adventures of our own along the way, enjoyed some very important lunch breaks and spent lots of busy days in our little shop by the sea.

It’s always nice to look back at the camera roll and find all the little moments in between the busy days. Here are a few of our favourites from August so far 🩵

This might be the best thing I’ve seen all morning 🥺

I looked over the edge this morning and was met with this little scene… a couple out for an early morning swim with their dog, who was quite clearly having the time of their life!

It made me smile so much that I couldn’t help but share it with you.

This is what Cornwall is all about for me. Making special memories, enjoying the simple things and making the most of having all of this on our doorstep. Sometimes happiness really is just an early morning dip in the sea with your favourite four-legged pal. 🩵

A perfectly pretty production line 🩵

Before something makes it onto our shelves, there are a lot of hours spent behind the scenes making, tweaking, assembling, finishing and usually making a bit of a mess in the process!

It’s easy to see the finished piece and forget just how much time and care goes into getting it there.

We absolutely love the making part though. There’s something very satisfying about seeing a kitchen worktop slowly fill up with finished pieces, knowing every single one has been made by hand. 🩵

Well… summer, you’ve certainly kept us on our toes! 🩵

The six weeks holidays have been wonderfully busy so far and the days seem to be flying by. We’ve loved seeing so many familiar faces coming back to visit us, alongside lots of new ones discovering our little shop by the sea for the first time.

It’s been busy, slightly chaotic at times, but lots of fun, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you for continuing to show up and support our little family business. It genuinely means so much to us.

We’ve also got some exciting plans bubbling away behind the scenes for September. It’s one of our favourite months here in Cornwall and we’ve got plenty to look forward to, so watch this space… 👀

For now though, we’re making the most of every bit of summer we have left. ☀️

Just a few things I’m currently trying very hard not to take home with me…

One of my biggest challenges is being surrounded by things I love every day and somehow leaving them in the shop. My husband would kill me if they all started mysteriously appearing at home.

So here are a few of my current favourites! Some practical, some beautifully handmade and, of course, a super cute cuddly addition because I’m a big kid at heart.

Just your average evening at The Lizard… standing outside with a colander 😂

Last night everyone gathered to watch the solar eclipse and we were lucky enough to have a pretty fabulous viewing spot here at The Lizard.

For the best part of an hour we sat together and watched as the moon slowly crept across the sun. There was something really special about stopping what we were doing, heading outside and sharing one of those little moments that doesn’t happen every day.

And before anyone mentions the photo… NO, we did not look directly at the sun. 😂 The four pairs of sunglasses were purely for dramatic effect. We used our very sophisticated eclipse-viewing equipment instead… otherwise known as a piece of paper and a colander.

Good morning from a very sunny little shop on the hill! ☀️🩵

The Lizard is looking particularly lovely this week and apparently the forecast for the rest of the week is... sunshine, followed by a little more sunshine. We’ll happily take it!

The doors are open, the coffee has been consumed and we’re ready for another busy summer day. We absolutely love this time of year, especially seeing so many familiar faces returning to the Lizard alongside lots of new ones discovering our little corner of Cornwall for the first time.
