Cracking video of our B25 move by one of our volunteers Simon Orsborn. it shows the hard work our volunteers put in behind the scenes

Today a small group of volunteers helped move the B-25 fuselage and Canberra in to the new exhibition area we've created at the museum in Balcombe.

Another historic day for the restoration of B-25 Mitchell B-25J-25-NC 44-30861"Bedsheet Bomber" and a major mile-stone reached. Despite the awful weather today, a team of volunteers from the Wings Aviation Museum moved the fuselage and centre section into the new restoration workshop at the Wings Museum.

It is so rewarding to see this final piece of this massive jigsaw puzzle safley in the dry after all these years. Now restoration can begin on these major sections as we continue our journey of bringing this old war horse back from the dead. Please like and share, we need as much support as we can possibly get. I would like to personally thank all the volunteers who helped today to make this happen after months of preparation behind the scenes.

A Historic Moment for our B-25 Bomber!

For the first time since the 1940s, the rear fuselage has been successfully separated from the center section!

This is a massive step in getting this old girl where she belongs: into the workshop for some extremely overdue love and attention.

We won't lie—it was a complete nightmare!
Persistence, a lot of elbow grease, sometimes a bigger hammer... and a good kebab were the only things that saw us through! But seeing these sections apart makes every single hour of struggle worth it.

Onwards and upwards! Stay tuned for more updates as the restoration begins!

It's always exciting to finally get something done that has been talked about for over two years! On Monday the 18th August, Dave, Dan and Aaron have prepped the rear fuselage of B-25 Bedsheet Bomber ready for it to be spilt from the centre section and moved inside the museum workshop, so that restoration can begin on this major section. For years the centre section has been attached to the rear fuselage. This should have been removed decades ago as it is a factory production break. Removing the centre section will allow us to finally move both sections into the workshop. A lot of work is being done behind the scenes at the Wings Aviation Museum while we prepare a new larger workshop to create space for the fuselage. We are also creating a new display area to enable us to get artifacts currently in storage on public display. Exciting changes are in the pipeline and we are preparing to step up the restoration of this iconic aircraft "B-25 Bedsheet Bomber". We are always looking for experienced sheet metal fabricators. If you think you can help us, please email the museum today and join our dedicated restoration team and help us restore this airframe as a permanent tribute to all those air crew and in particular the Royal Air Force B-25 squadrons that operated from Dunsfold during World War Two.

Support Our Hawker Kestrel Restoration – Skin Pin Appeal!

We’re making incredible progress on our Hawker Kestrel restoration project, but we need your help! One of the biggest challenges we face is replacing the aircraft skins that are desperately in need of repair, and to do that, we need skin pins—lots of them!

Skin pins are essential for securing new aircraft skins in place during restoration, ensuring a precise fit before they are permanently fastened. Without them, we simply can’t move forward as quickly as we’d like. These pins aren’t just crucial for the Kestrel; they will also support our other ongoing and future aircraft restoration projects.

One of our amazing followers had a fantastic idea: if you’d like to support our restoration efforts but don’t have skin pins to donate you can purchase skin pins and have them shipped directly to the museum! This is a simple but incredibly meaningful way to contribute, and every donation—big or small—makes a real impact.

We are currently after lots of 1/8th skin pins!!!
