The museum is an opportunity to see the role played by the "Carpetbagger" Group, the "Air Arm" of the Office of Strategic Services, during WW2.

In addition, displays and information of the SOE and OSS Agents who were dispatched into occupied Europe. Museum weekend opening days April to August 2022

A really busy Weekend at the Museum, fine weather and great to have visitors from near and far. One being Pat Carty, author of the superb book "Secret Squadrons of the Eighth". The copy attached has a few signatures of Cheddington Veterans who attended a past reunion at the Airfield site. Pat is a very knowledgeable historian, especially regarding Station 113 based at Cheddington. A direct link to Harrington with the transfer of the 406th Night Leaflet squadron to Station 179, on the 14th March 1945, with 20 Aircrews, along with their B-17 Flying Fortresses and B-24 Liberators 👍

A fine visit to the Museum today by two Car groups. Firstly the Vintage Sports-Car Club and secondly the Alfa Romeo Owners Club UK. The weather was great and so good to meet with the vehicle owners and their wonderful Cars 💕

A fine weekday Museum visit from Stephane Duchemin, along with his wife, Isabelle and their colleague Eric Jannsonne. Stephane is the President and Wing Leader of the Commemorative Air Force French Wing. They are part of the "Little Blue Cloud" UK Tour, with their Aircraft ,Piper NE-1. Images taken at the Harrington Memorial and of the Piper at Shuttleworth and the IWM at Duxford. Eric's Grandfather was a member of the FFI, French Resistance, during WW2. It was great to meet with them and we will be keeping in touch 👍

This afternoon, at Harrington Village, the ribbon cutting and dedication of a fine Bench, provided by Fred West in memory of his wife, Betty. The Bench is located in the High Street, with a view of the "Falls", Medieval Fish Ponds and in the distance, Arthingworth Village. It was very well attended with those from the Village, the Kettering and District Amateur Radio Society and Harrington Museum, followed by a gathering in the Village Hall. A couple of photos of the commencement of our much needed independant new water supply to the Museum. This is our largest ever expenditure and essential to enable to Museum to operate and function. Our GoFundMe fundraiser is in place and we would welcome any contributions towards this and other works that we have yet to carry out. Many thanks to all those who have already contributed and to those that may do so 💕

A few images of the Museum's new Library. It is with much appreciation and thanks to the family of Carpetbagger Pilot Joseph C Hoagland, who following their visit to the Museum in November last, made a generous donation that was gratefully received and used for the much needed new Library. There is a plaque on the Library door in his name. There is an earlier post on the 25th November 2025, with details and images of the Hoagland families visit. The work on the Library was carried out by our Museum Volunteers and with special mention and thanks to Steve, who led the project and through to its completion. Apart from housing an extensive reference Book collection, there are also "Carpetbagger" Archives that can be accessed, contained in Folders, also to be found using the dedicated Computer, complete with Desk and Seat. A fine improvement to our Museum and hopefully to be used and enjoyed by both visitors and researchers.

Yesterday, from America, for her fourth visit over many years, Cheryl Eyed, daughter of "Carpetbagger" Major (Ret) Albert Habeney, Bombardier with the Walling Crew. Visiting with her were her sister, Melissa Bagnati and her two daughters, Christina and Angelina, for their first time in England. The family had previously kindly donated to the Museum the Uniform and other items, of their late father, worn whilst serving at Harrington and later at Cheddington. Following their visit they all headed off to Northampton to see relatives and the Church where Albert Haberney had married an English girl, who still has family over here. It was great to meet with them and they are already planning another visit in the future 💕

A welcome and very busy time at the Museum, 23rd-25th May, supporting the National Cold War Heritage week. Many visitors had travelled quite some distance and it was a pleasure to host them on this special occasion. Special thanks go to all Museum Volunteers, for the fine temporary display put on by Howard and Katie and especially to Museum Manager Geoff, who carried out so well the Thor presentations. On Monday, the 25th, Steve and Ian attended the Memorial Day at Cambridge Military Cemetery representing the "Carpetbagger" Group , along with our Wreath. It was our first time being a part of the annual National Cold War week and are intending to support this again in future years. An important and significant part of the history of Harrington. Thank you to all who attended and do hope to meet with you again ❤️

Details of the Special weekend event, being held 23rd-25th May. On the 23rd and 24th only, there will be two presentations each day, as details attached and limited to 25 persons for each session. On the 25th May there will be no formal presentations, however the displays being set-up for the previous two days will remain and Museum Volunteers will be on hand. This is an entirely new event, highly relevant and a very important part of the post-WW2 History of Harrington.
