ART, THE SEA & THE RNLI

This week, the extraordinary work of the RNLI returns to our screens on the BBC.

In 2025 alone, RNLI lifeboats launched more than 9,000 times, with volunteer crews going to the aid of people in difficulty at sea.

At Molasses House, the sea has always been part of the work we love — particularly in the paintings of sailing artist Jan Nelson.

To mark the BBC’s new RNLI documentary series, throughout August in addition to a 10% collector discount, Jan & Molasses House will donate a further 10% of the sale price of every one of her paintings sold to the RNLI.

We currently have eight original Jan Nelson paintings available.

MONTEREY CAR WEEK. ALFA ROMEO. THE ART OF SPEED.

As the automotive world gathers in California for the final weekend of Monterey Car Week, today brings a particular celebration of Alfa Romeo and six decades of the iconic Spider Duetto.

But Alfa Romeo’s racing story reaches much further back.

The 1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo B P3 was one of the defining Grand Prix cars of its era — a machine in which engineering, competition and extraordinary Italian design came together.

Photographer Bill Pack approaches this remarkable car differently.

Using his Painting With Light process, Pack removes the distractions of the racetrack and allows us to see the Tipo B P3 almost as sculpture — its form, detail and character emerging from light and shadow.
