Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum The Schoolroom Museum in Great Ayton is housed in a building once used as a charity school, it was here Captain James Cook received his early education.

Please check our weekly posts to verify opening times and dates, which are subject to change. The Trust manages the upkeep and development of the museum, on behalf of the village and local community. The museum, the site of the original schoolroom, houses an exciting educational display and interaction of the early life and achievements of James Cook.

Wow, so warm and sunny!!! Happy weekend everyone… ☀️

This coming week the museum will be open 1-4pm Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28th June as usual, EXCEPT we are CLOSED on Friday 26th.

We are also open this afternoon - please come in for some shade and a nosy inside ☺️

Thanks to everyone whom visited our stand at the village fete at the weekend. We raised £55 for the museum from our Tombola prizes and it was splendid to see representation from local businesses and everyone out enjoying themselves!

This week the Museum will be open 1pm until 4pm as usual, from Wed to Sun inclusive EXCEPT that we are CLOSED 🚫 on Saturday 20 June.

Louise, who kindly updates both on behalf of the museum, has been dealing with family illness and has only today been able to catch up with these tasks.

Beautiful sunshine is hopefully on the menu for the week ahead.

This coming week the Museum will be open 1pm until 4pm as usual, from Wed to Sun EXCEPT we are closed on Friday 29th May. We are however OPEN for Bank Holiday Monday 25th May as a bonus!☀️

Today it’s been a beautiful sunny Sunday! We hope everyone is recharged and ready for a new week…

This week the Museum will be open 1pm until 4pm as usual, from Wed 13th to Sat 16th May EXCEPT we are closed on Friday 15th May. We are also closed next Sunday 17th May.

The following week we will be open the same days and hours between Wed 20th to Sat 23rd May (closed Friday and Sunday), however we are OPEN for Bank Holiday Monday 25th May and hoping for sunshine. ☀️🤞
