Another exciting step forward in bringing the Compton Organ back to life!

The Flute is now all wired up and tuned, and the tremulants are sounding much happier — and, importantly, a lot less noisy!

We’re also now up to 5 ranks of pipes installed!

But what does that actually mean? A rank is a complete set of pipes that produces its own distinctive sound or tone. So having five ranks installed means we’re making great progress towards getting more of the Compton’s incredible range of sounds back up and running.

It’s fantastic to see the installation progressing piece by piece, bringing this remarkable part of Grantham’s musical heritage closer to being heard once again.

Every pipe, wire and rank is another step towards Bringing the Compton Home.

In 2028, we will mark 100 years since women gained the right to vote on the same terms as men – and we want to make sure the women of Grantham are part of that story.

We're launching the HerVote100 – Grantham Research Group, with an ambitious goal: to identify the 100+ women from Grantham who played a role in the suffrage movement and uncover their stories.

Whether you're interested in local history, family history, research, or simply curious to learn more, we'd love you to join us.
