The 1960s and 70s saw many daring designers emerge and begin experimenting with new materials like PVC and Vinyl. This led to playful, bold, and comfortable shoe designs.

These fabulous shoes will be on display at Gosport Museum and Art Gallery until 25th July 2026.

In this fun, family-friendly workshop, you’ll become a team of Animal Explorers, solving clues and uncovering fascinating facts about how animals live, survive, and adapt to the world around them. Get up close with a variety of taxidermy specimens and discover the incredible features that help them thrive—from camouflage and claws to fur, feathers, and beyond.

Are you looking for something fun to do this May half term? Why not head down to Gosport Museum and Art Gallery and help our resident palaeontologist Doctor Bones track down a lost dinosaur!
In this exciting escape room–style workshop, families will work together to solve clues, crack codes, and complete hands-on challenges to bring the dinosaur back to safety.

The red bottoms of Christian Louboutin shoes are instantly recognisable, and give a sense of empowerment to the wearer.
To see these iconic shoes up close, alongside over 50 other pairs from the collections cared for by Hampshire Cultural Trust, visit our new exhibition Shoes running at Gosport Gallery until 25th July 2026.

Music in the Museum with OMAM DAWN

Omam Dawn is a singer/songwriter who grew up in Gosport. She is inspired by the sounds of psych-folk musicians of the 60s/70s and uses gentle guitar and vocals to transport listeners into ethereal dreamscapes of blind birds, speaking dolphins, fishermen and darker corners of cemeteries and unrequited love.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Big Give campaign.

With your help, we raised over £13,000 through the campaign, unlocking vital match funding to help children and young people find inspiration, creativity and joy in the arts when they need it most. Since the campaign closed, further gifts and Gift Aid have taken the total to over £18,000, which is a wonderful result.

We are also grateful to the donor who provided match funding and believes deeply in this work, helping every pound given to go further. Together, this shared commitment will enhance local children and young people’s connection to their local museum or gallery and access to creative opportunities

We have had a great first week of our new exhibition, Shoes, at Gosport Museum and Art Gallery.

Our next Music in the Museum event is taking place on Friday 22nd May at Gosport Museum and Art Gallery.
Omam Dawn is a singer/songwriter who grew up in Gosport. She is inspired by the sounds of psych-folk musicians of the 60s/70s and uses gentle guitar and vocals to transport listeners into ethereal dreamscapes of blind birds, speaking dolphins, fishermen and darker corners of cemeteries and unrequited love. Inspired by the sea and her childhood affinity with animals, her songs evoke a gentle and natural essence of what it means to be human.
