Submissions close this Friday!

Have you entered our next Open Art exhibition yet? Submissions close on Friday 4th September. Artworks in any medium will be accepted. For example: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, textiles, pottery, etc. We are unfortunately unable to accept any video or sound installations for this exhibition.

Entry costs £3 per artwork. You are welcome to submit a maximum of three artworks and individual application forms must be completed for each.

This fascinating exhibition explores the history and development of beekeeping, and highlights the importance of bees in our ecosystem today.

Happy world Honey Bee day!
Celebrated each year on the third Saturday in August, World Honey Bee day celebrates both the hardworking honey bees and the beekeepers (or Apiarists) who tend to the hives.
Why not head down to our current exhibition Bees! Hampshires Hive of History & Nature to learn more, and pick up one of our free handouts highlighting what you can do at home to help the bees in your garden.

Gosport Museum and Art Gallery is delighted to announce the return of Open Art for 2026. This year we are inviting submissions in response to the title- Our Gosport.

Applications must be completed by persons aged 16+. We will have a Junior Gallery for entrants aged 12 – 18 years old. Please note that a parent or guardian must apply on behalf of anyone aged 12 – 16.

Entry cost: £3 per artwork with a maximum of three submissions per person.

Applications will be open until the end of the day on Friday 4 September 2026, with the exhibition itself running from Saturday 10 October until Saturday 5 December 2026.

Opening tomorrow, Saturday 8 August at Gosport Museum and Art Gallery!
We have been hard at work getting Bees! Hampshire's Hive of History & Nature ready, and we can't wait for you to see it.
Come and learn more about the history of beekeeping, and find out more about what we can all do to help bees in our own back gardens.

Are you looking for something creative and fun to start the summer holidays? Why not head down to our Mini Makers: Bee creative sessions at Gosport Museum and Art Gallery.
These sessions will be running on Wednesdays throughout the summer, with the first session, bubble bee painting, taking place tomorrow (29 July).

Another exhibition has come to an end, we hope that you enjoyed this fascinating look into our footwear!
Our next exhibition, Bees, will be opening on Saturday 8 August. In the meantime, why not visit our community museum, cafe and play gallery? And our courtyard seating is open if you want to make the most of the sunshine!
