Look who we bumped into at Glossop Heritage Weekend today! 😁
Kyle Evans As George Formby gave his usual cracking performance to a huge audience in Norfolk Square!

We have enjoyed great interractions with the public and are looking forward to more tomorrow. For anyone still wondering whether to come or not-do it! 😁❀️

We are pleased to be returning for Glossop Heritage Weekend tomorrow and Sunday! Keep an eye out for us on Norfolk Square amidst all the activities! 😁

Big thanks to the Glossop and District Roundtable for their part in organising!

We will of course have a space for Glossop Mountain Rescue Team and Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation - PDMRO collecting, so please support our local volunteer rescuers!

A quick photo before the madness started as we got going at Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust 's 1940's Weekend! 😁

We have barely had chance to draw breath since 10:00, but are here again tomorrow for anyone that missed Saturday!

We shan't be attending Peak Rail this year as ourselves, but rather an alternative impression with our friends in Do Broni and OpJedd '44 along the theme of "Espionage".

However, our good friends in the form of Shiny Ten LHG WILL be displaying at this event for the first time, and having seen a sneak preview of their display recently we would encourage everyone to get their Royal Air Force fix with their fantastic interractive display this year! ;)

Remember to keep your eyes peeled and your lips tightly sealed this season as the enemy lurks amongst you...
"Loose lips sink ships!" will very much be in play so be careful! ;)

We could not let the 90th anniversary of the Spitfire's first flight go by without celebrating what a huge role the aircraft and it's many subsequent types would have!

Beautiful, elegant, powerful and fearsome...but that's enough about us!
The Supermarine Spitfire wasn't bad either ;)

Happy birthday old girl! It is such an honour to regularly work with you and your sisters! ❀️

We are devastated to learn of the passing of a great friend and mentor, Buzz Hope.

Buzz was one of the most dedicated historians I have ever met. His many many books on Bomber Command "and in the morning" series are a vital part of any good research library and I will cherish Buzz's words, so beautifully enclosed within those pages forever.

Buzz was an inspiration to many; a mentor; a walking encyclopedia; a legend of the living history scene; but most importantly, he was a good friend.
His words of advice and encouragement guided and heartened me whether baking in a hot field, or slipping and sliding in the mud of a washed out airfield somewhere in England.

A single Facebook post cannot do justice to the gentleman and scholar that Buzz was, but we as a group, and I personally wish him peace after his long battle with cancer. Our thoughts are with Buzz's friends and family this evening as we raise a glass in his memory.

Per Ardua ad Astra 🌠

Sound the alarm! The new year approaches!!! 😁🎊🍾🍻
------------------

Reflecting back on this season we are very proud of where we started and where we have grown to.
2025 was a year of reset, reevaluate and refocus in terms of displays and topics covered, and our first full season out and about under our new name!

We put our energy into a few small, but high quality (and improving all the time) displays and events this season, rather than going too mad:

-We were kindly invited to display inside the grogeous Assembly Rooms for VE Day's 80th anniversary courtesy of Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust.
-We attended Operation Ashbourne featuring local airfield rescue scenarios.
- Peak Rail 1940s weekend was an absolute belter as always and gave us the opportunity to display the equipment and techniques of rescue in the heart of the Peak District where the RAFMRS was so crucially needed in wartime.

As 2026 is upon us, planning for where you will be able to see us is already well underway. We hope to build on what we have achieved this year, and we thank all those who have joined us on this journey recently, and also those who have supported us through a challenging transitory period!

A happy and prosperous new year to you all from us! 😁
