Never know what to write on these anymore. But I have about twenty pages left in my sketchbook. Then it’s finished. And onto the next one. These markers are just incredible.

The joy of filling up a sketchbook for the first time in my life is something I can’t quite explain. It’s something every artist should get to experience. And now as a 28 year old it’s embarrassing I haven’t completed a single one yet.

Before this all my work was on loose sheets of paper. That was either glued into a cheap sketchbook (which I couldn’t actually paint in, otherwise the paper would disintegrate) . Or Put into folders or given away. Or digital work I never printed out before. Or just commission work.

This is taking a while, buy ohhh booyyyyy is it worth every hour of my time. Can’t wait to see it finished one day. Then many, many more.

This was my first full watercolour piece in ages. As you can see I didn’t trust myself and stuck the page in. So if it went wrong I could throw it away.

I went in too heavy with paint straight from the start so the colours are a lot darker than originally intended. But I still like how it turned out. So it ended up in my sketchbook.

Let’s get back to posting again. We’ve still got a lot of catching up to do. I am slowly enjoying getting back into my art and after a couple more graphite sketches I will start painting again.

Starting to really enjoy painting flowers, but i am getting the itch to paint more. Paint things I haven’t painted before ❤️

Really starting to understand flower shapes and how to use the gouache now. Using pencils to push the contrast and saturation. I think constantly switching it up and experimenting are what I have needed to do for a long time 🖤

Going to go to three posts a week. Seem to be managing two pages a week at least. So I will now try posting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Trying my best to either take photos or small videos of the process for reel purposes. But honestly making reels is not very fun. When you’re in the Zone painting, the last thing on your mind is to stop just to take a quick video and photo. It really throws me out of my space.

If you would like to see reels though please tell me because it give more motivation to try and make them :) I’ve got one or two waiting, for when the page arrived onto the instagram grid.

Needed a bright spot of pink. Ohhh I love this time of year when the flowers start to bloom. It’s starting to look quite colourful around here at the moment 🖤

This sketchbook is filling up faster than I hoped.
Traditional work seems a lot faster, because I can’t go back and correct mistakes or change things. It’s so unforgiving. But that is the fun in it. The truth behind it.

Sorry this one’s a little late today. It’s been a rainy miserable week. So natural sun light, to take pictures of my sketchbook, has not been on my side. But here are pages 8 & 9. Going to go to three posts a week soon. Just a little scared of putting to much pressure on myself 💙
