Out on The Cobbler today, chasing the same horizon that inspired David Page's 'Arrochar Alps' series ⛰️

For generations, Glaswegians have looked to the hills as an escape: from the city, the routine and everyday grind.

David Page's paintings explore the tradition of escape, drawing on the writings of Alastair Borthwick, the adventures of Jock Nimlin and the generations who fought for free access to Scotland's mountains.

Escape, a joint exhibition with Andrew Gault, opens this Friday. Come and spend some time on the hills with us, no boots required 😉

Esther doesn't set out to record a view. She walks, sketches and soaks up the rhythm, colour and changing light of a place, then takes those instinctive sketches back to the studio and lets them loosen into something between recognisable and dreamlike. Layers built up and scraped back 👌🏼

That's what makes it so good on a wall - never stops giving you something to look at and leaves room for your own story and interpretation.

With David's focus on the Arrochar Alps from the early hill walking days and Right to Roam through to Munro bagging and the escape we find ourselves longing for as we spend our weekends and fond memories in the hills.
