This rare colour photo of The Haven Bar shows the well known pub at the corner of Springburn Road and Hydepark Place. Photo circa 1961-1962.

Mr. James B McLaren was landlord in 1891 he also ran a licensed grocer's business in Glebe Street, this pub became known as the Manx Bar. In 1901 Mr McLaren's wife Susan took over the running of the pub in Springburn Road until 1907. The pub was then sold to William Scott who ran the pub until his death at the end of the First World War. His wife Edith then took over the running of the pub.

Other license Holders for the pub was William Reid in the 1940s, Samuel T Brown ran the pub from 1955 until 1970s.

A colourised vintage street scene shows a double-decker Glasgow tram, Standard Car 413, route 25, travelling beneath the Red Hackle railway bridge in Springburn. The tram is displaying “Springburn” and “Barnhill” on its destination boards. The scene includes tram tracks, period cars, overhead utility wires, ornate street lamps, high stone and brick walls, and the distinctive sawtooth-roofed industrial buildings associated with Springburn’s railway works.

This is a rare colour image of tram car 244, a 32 to Bishopbriggs from Castle Street as it passes the tenements on Springburn Road, followed by a 37 Corporation Bus.

This split-level street scene in Springburn featured in Molly Weir’s writings where she described “clambering on to the lamp posts at the higher level and sliding down on to the lower narrow kerb”.
