We are excited to welcome Blythe Scott to Annan Gallery for the first time this exhibition. Blythe is a Scottish-born artist, based in Melrose in the Scottish Borders.

She creates uplifting mixed media art influenced by the cities, coastlines, and countryside of Scotland. Her paintings are known for their harmonious use of colour, a feeling of movement, captivating textures, and a bold, expressive drawing style. Her paintings are already getting quite a bit of attention here at the gallery.

Opening This Saturday 30th Nov... The Winter Show at the Annan Gallery!

It's not long before one of our largest exhibitions of the year opens where we will be showcasing a wide selection of some of the the very best of Scottish Art.

Featuring paintings from many of the top Scottish artists working today, there's a great range of styles, subjects and price points so if you're looking to treat yourself or a loved one this Christmas, we always have something for everyone

After fighting our way through the snow to open up the gallery, Jonathan Shearer's 'Winter Willow’ seems an apt painting to show for today.

A fabulous painting capturing the beauty of the Willow on a blue-sky Winter's day, the heavy textures and colours, almost abstract when viewed up close, resolve perfectly into the majesty of the Willow tree when given a little more distance.

Ellis O’Connor’s ‘Crash’ is a wonderfully atmospheric mid-sized painting currently on show in our Ellis O’Connor and Jonathan Shearer exhibition.

With palette inspiration coming from a Northern Lights sky, the darker tones and vertical brushstrokes give a sense of rain and mist, creating a moody landscape and turbulent weather. While showing the dramatic side of the Scottish natural landscape, this painting is simultaneously tranquil.
