🦇Did you know? 12 of the UK’s 17 species of bat have been recorded in Pembrokeshire. This includes the rare Barbastelle bat which is known to breed in Pengelli Forest, just up the road from Castell Henllys.

You can find out more about the secretive twilight lives of British bats on an evening walk around the Castell Henllys woodlands on Tuesday 25 August. Guided by a Park Ranger and with the help of a bat detector, you’ll be able to listen in on these elusive nocturnal creatures as they flit through the twilight, feeding on insects and navigating the night skies. 🦇

🌱The woods surrounding Castell Henllys are alive with life. Not just animals, birds and insects but plant life.

Join our resident forager, Ben, on Sunday 23 August for an after-hours foraging walk to discover the secrets of some of these plants. Discover the hidden properties of what some may call weeds but have a range of useful properties. Some will be edible, some will be poisonous, and some will be altogether more curious.🌿

Sunday 23 August, 5pm. £10 per person.
