Place is adapted to sell pottery in front- gallery part , further inside there is plenty room to experience work with clay including wheel throwing or to observe professional pottery kiln and even load own piece of art. September is just around the corner, and it means two things: my birthday and the Colony of Artists are near.

For my birthday, I dream of a bonfire. It's been ages since I had a chance to sit quietly in the fading light of the day and follow the dance of the sparks competing, for a brief moment, with stars, just to die shortly after.

The Colony of Artists, on the other hand, will be anything but quiet.
This year Mud Station is hosting 4 artists: me, Peter, Leonor Calaça from Leonor Calaça and Sara Molpeceres from Colourful Handmade Accessories | Workshops Edinburgh
It means wood-fired pottery, but also jewellery, accessories, home décor, prints, one-of-a-kind dolls, and even fake taxidermy butterflies. As always: interesting meetings, talks about art, old and new friends, and plenty of laughter. Hopefully see you then.

Btw, I'm not as new as the website suggests. Mud Station, in different formats, has participated in the COA since 2018 (I couldn't believe my eyes either!).

I'm so excited to share the latest news. Our woodfiring exhibition is almost here!

It's been a real team effort of Angus Agus Agnes folks, collaborating to create something special. We invited a bunch of amazing Scottish and international potters to join us to make this show even more interesting.

It's really hard to believe that it's already the end of July; half of the year has passed in the blink of an eye. Our IG grid doesn't fully capture how busy Mud Station has been.

Between our usual classes and activities, we had the pleasure of hosting not one but two master workshops with Patricia Shone. We welcomed people from around the world, learnt about Patricia's technique, and shared stories and laughs.

From the very beginning of my pottery journey, it was clear how important sharing knowledge is. With ceramics departments disappearing from art schools and universities, I feel it has become even more urgent. Master workshops like these help share expertise, create space for exchanging ideas, and bring people from diverse backgrounds together.

This year has been more challenging for me personally. Still, I'm committed to inviting interesting and knowledgeable potters to our studio, offering opportunities to learn unique techniques, and hopefully helping to preserve the flow of knowledge. I look forward to seeing you soon for another ceramic adventure.

I want to thank not only Patricia but also everyone who chose to travel short or long distances, whose passion for pottery and for learning new techniques made these workshops possible. I hope you'll keep your stay in Edinburgh in your fond memories.

Our Instagram often doesn't capture the full extent of how busy we all are at Mud Station.
This month has been incredibly active, even before it's halfway through. We've successfully concluded beginner classes, hosted Patricia Shone for a second time, and woodfired numerous pots, all while maintaining our regular studio sessions.

Currently, I'm enjoying a short vacation in Poland but I'm already deep into preparations for the next series of beginner classes, scheduled to commence in August, and I'm actively planning more master workshops and other exciting surprises for you all.

I hope you are getting a chance to rest a little between the heatwaves.

WHAT A WEEKEND!

Two days of sharing knowledge, stories, laughter and Norwegian food!

We are excited to announce the launch of a brand new class here at Mud Station!

For the first time ever in our studio's history we will be hosting pottery painting classes on the last Friday of every month starting from June onwards. These classes are ran by and for q***r, creative and like-minded individuals, creating a safe space and an opportunity to get people chatting.

Each class will be a 2 hour long session of decorating, designing and painting a unique piece that is one of a kind. You will be provided with a stoneware bowl, plate or mug (or two if you're quick!) to paint with a selection of gorgeous glazes and then get to take your piece home and use approximately two weeks after your class (Each piece will be fully functional after firing meaning it will be dishwasher and microwave safe and ready for daily use!).
Each session will host up to 10 people, get in contact with us to reserve your spot!

Jo Walker was back at Mud Station last weekend for a fantastic two-day sgraffito master class workshop. It was great having her teach us both the theory and all of the practical skills. Students learned everything about tools, materials, and best practices to develop skills and working on their own unique style.
