Fixings, our solo presentation by David Lemm continues this weekend.

David’s work in the exhibition began with him taking a series of walks around the Moray coastline. During these walks he collected an archive of imagery and objects including roots, branches, sand, crumbling concrete and eroded steel.

From this library of remnants, David has constructed layered assemblages, which highlight overlooked aspects of the topography, and present the landscape as an entangled mesh of cultural and organic systems. Specifically, he was drawn to reciprocities between exposed root networks and the steel infrastructures of withered concrete wartime defences.

Come and see these works for yourself! We are open Tuesdays to Fridays 10-5, and Saturdays 10-4. The exhibition runs until June 15.

It’s the first week of David Lemm’s solo exhibition, Fixings.

Earlier this year, David was invited to exhibit at , which prompted his exploration of Findhorn and the surrounding terrain.

The series of work in Fixings focuses on the erosion of the Moray coastline, whilst considering broader narratives around the fixity of landscape and our increasingly precarious environment.

Come and see these works for yourself – you’ll be very welcome. We are open Tuesdays to Fridays 10-5, and Saturdays 10-4, and the exhibition runs until June 15.

There are just a few days left to catch Print 24, our exhibition of printmaking from around Scotland.

We’re so pleased to have this stunning print by Lin Chau in the gallery. Lin is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice is underpinned by her connection to the world and her environment. Much of her recent work is concerned with displacement and the passing of time.

In addition to drawing as the core of her practice, Lin works with a variety of media, from installation to printmaking, continually exploring new creative techniques. She graduated with a Master of Letters in Fine Art Practice from Sculpture & Environmental Art and a Bachelor of Fine Art (Hons) from The Glasgow School of Art.

There’s just one more week to see Print 24, our current exhibition showcasing work by 18 printmakers around Scotland.

We are highlighting some of the amazing printmaking facilities around Scotland used by our exhibiting artists to make their work – today we’re giving a shout-out to .

Glasgow Print Studio is an internationally acclaimed centre for printmaking, which was founded in 1972 as an artist-led initiative providing accessible workshop facilities and later a gallery space for artists making original prints. It’s the printmaking home to several of the artists in Print 24.

GPS promotes contemporary and innovative printmaking and supports artists’ practices. Its workshop in Trongate 103 is at the centre of its activities, which include publishing and exhibition programmes, learning events, printmaking courses, print sales and an archive.

Print 24 continues this week! Our current exhibition showcases the work of 18 contemporary printmakers from around Scotland.

We have two beautiful prints by Bill Taylor in the exhibition. Bill was born in Banff, and studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, graduating in Drawing and Painting.

His work is essentially landscape-based/inspired and is influenced by the geometries that occur in nature. Both music and poetry are major factors in the development of his work.

‘In producing work, I tend to select elements from the environment and the works are basically an abstraction or a translation of these elements. My intention is to communicate a sense of space, movement and order.’

We have four fantastic digital prints by Katie Hallam in the show – Katie is an artist based in Edinburgh, and works primarily in digital photography and print. More recently she has moved into creating sculptural works, in which new media art meets geology, fossils and contemporary spaces.

We love these works – drop in to see them for yourself, we are open Tuesday to Friday from 10-5, and Saturday from 10-4. The exhibition runs until April 27 – we would love to see you!

We’re very pleased to have two wonderful prints by Mark Doyle in the exhibition. Mark is an artist originally from Edinburgh whose work includes printmaking, sculpture, installation and digital processes.

Mark works across a range of methods and has a strong interest in materials and how we engage with them.  He’s also interested in the different ways people engage with art and how artists can communicate ideas to an audience beyond the traditional gallery context. He has an interest in how art can become part of our built environment and how this can lead to new interpretations of heritage and place – you may have seen his fantastic site-specific work ‘Catalogue Wall’ at .

As well as two framed prints, we also have an unframed work by Mark in our affordable print rack – come in and check them out!

Print 24! Our group exhibition of work by 18 printmakers from around Scotland continues until April 27.

Alasdair Wallace has two fantastic prints in the exhibition – his art is suffused with the surrealism of the everyday. Alasdair’s artworks present a world that is at once recognisable and unsettling – a world full of odd juxtapositions and unexplained presences.

Alasdair lives and works in Glasgow, and the city’s ‘edgelands’ provide a recurring motif for his work. He finds a rich space for his artistic imagination in the unfixed margin between the modern city and the countryside that surrounds it.

Come and check out his work for yourself – you’ll be very welcome.

Our current exhibition showcases the work of 18 fantastic printmakers who are based across Scotland.

Ros Lawless has two wonderful works in the exhibition! Ros studied Fine Art Printmaking at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, and graduated with a Master of Fine Art Printmaking from the Royal College of Art in London in 2004. She has received both the RSA William Littlejohn Award and the RSA Residencies for Scotland Award.

In 2019 she was awarded a scholarship at the the International Academy of Fine Arts, Salzburg, was shortlisted for the Anna Lobner/Dusseldorf Exchange and also received the Bet Low Trust Award. Her work has been acquired by the National Galleries of Scotland.

Ros’s practice is strongly influenced by her immediate surroundings. Most recently she has been working with wall rubbings, focusing on public and private space; the space of maintenance and workers’ areas. This may be fire hydrants, electrical boxes, post boxes and re-developed sites where you find the worker’s mark.

Print 24 opens tomorrow!

We’re very pleased to be showing work by a fantastic line-up of 18 contemporary printmakers, who use a range of techniques - from screenprinting to lithography, and from etching to cyanotype.

Alistair Gow is an artist based in Glasgow who works primarily with printmaking. His images come from a fascination with things that present potential: blank spaces, billboards, roads, and pictures hanging on walls are recurring motifs.

The practice of printmaking is essential to how Alistair thinks about and makes art – in particular the process, craft, and community of a workshop. He mainly makes his work at , where he has also worked as a collaborative printmaker.

Al has three wonderful prints in Print 24 – come and see them for yourself! The exhibition opens tomorrow, Thursday March 21, from 6-8pm, and then continues to April 27.

Coffee morning! ☕️ Drop into the gallery this Saturday, March 9th, from 10-12 for a coffee, pastries and a chat with our exhibiting artists.

Come and speak to Dougie Harley about his beautiful bird and murmuration drawings, and to Sarah Bold about her dramatic landscape paintings.

Much of Dougie’s work in the show explores murmurations – a stunning natural spectacle in which a flock of birds swoops and shape-shifts across the sky in a seemingly choreographed form.

Sarah’s work in the exhibition is part of her series Big Little Scotland, which explores the idea of wild places, the scale of the landscape and our connection to the land in her adopted home of Scotland.

We love these mini vases by Susie Wright! We’re so pleased to have them in the gallery alongside our current exhibition, From Sea to Sky.

Susie is a Scottish designer and printmaker, who makes prints, cards and contemporary home accessories. Working in her Edinburgh studio, she creates original designs that are inspired by her observations of landscape and architecture, wildlife and flora, from Scotland and overseas.

She is keen to maintain traditional printing techniques, so uses screen printing, lino cutting and wood engraving to make her work, and is committed to carefully sourcing and using sustainable, eco-friendly materials as much as possible. All her products are made in the UK – mainly in Scotland. Susie studied illustration at Edinburgh College of Art and Central Saint Martins, London, graduating in MA Communication Design in 2006.
