I go through a very unique process when I begin a portrait. I start with what I call the skeleton. I do an outline of the entire picture to get accurate scaling, the space between the subject's eyes, mouth, nose, ears etc.

Then I go on to give the art some soul. THE EYES ARE THE WINDOWS TO THE SOUL. It's the eyes we look into when we connect with another person and I believe its the most important part of the portrait. If they are wrong, I guarantee you will never see it in my gallery. Giving the eyes a definitive start, I begin to work from top to bottom on the page, going from the hair downward adding flesh tone. I finally draw the clothes, I prefer some sort of design on them for me to play with. Solid colour is boring, I like to keep things interesting, and the more complex the image the more I can mess with one's perception of reality.
