Hag. Knowledge, Power & Alchemy through Craft 💫 Coming March 2025.

Provocatively titled but thoughtfully curated, our 2025 exhibition will bring together the work of 13 of Scotland’s most inventive, creative and impactful women craft artists: Lise Bech, Judith Davies, Caroline Dear, Claire Heminsley, Fiona Hutchison, Ruth Elizabeth Jones, Gilly Langton, Jo McDonald, Susie Redman, Patricia Shone, Carol Sinclair, Amanda Simmons and Emma Louise Wilson. Celebrating the knowledge, power and alchemy mediated by their work, the exhibition will celebrate craft skills and approaches to practice developed by these significant women over decades of work and personal endeavour.

Fife Contemporary are delighted to be working with Curator, Kate Pickering, and our partners at ONFife, with support from the William Grant Foundation to bring this exhibition to Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries in March 2025.

📣 Arts Funding & Listening Session Update

Craft Scotland welcome the news that the Scottish Government have reinstated the £6.6m investment for Creative Scotland, this includes £3m for the Open Fund for Individuals.

Creative Scotland note that they are now considering how to work through the recent applications (819 applications, with a total ask of £11,893,366) and re-open the fund.

While this is welcome news, the funding situation for Scottish craft and culture is still precarious.

In light of the news, we will postpone next week’s Listening Session until we have more information to share.

Craft Scotland will continue to keep the sector informed as this situation develops. The Craft Scotland team are here to listen, and sign-post, for those affected by the news. Please email [email protected].
