It was yesterday, so here's one from our collection.
18year old David Bethune and his friend John Sinclair writing to the Estate factor in 1953, apologising for the dual infringement of, not just salmon poaching, but salmon poaching on a Sunday!
The photo is David in his army uniform in Germany, taken not long afterwards.

Our friends at Caithness Family History Society have an online talk coming up, focusing on Caithness soldier, John Sutherland.
John was born in Latheron in 1829 to farmer George Sutherland and his wife Margaret Mackay. At the age of 18 John enlisted with the Royal Artillery in Wick and began a 21 year military career which took him to various corners of the British Empire.

We had a lovely dog called Charlie in the museum today, but he was camera shy! So instead, here is a couple of photos from our archive. A young Anne Henry of Dunbeath Hotel, and her cute pup, taken in the 1950s. Does anyone remember them?

At the museum here you can find copies of Folklore of Dunbeath, a collection of local folktales by Helen Lindsay, with fabulous illustrations by Ewan Morrison.
