The Lady Caroline was a ship that carried emigrants from Warrenpoint to North America during the Famine. The Lady Caroline was described in 1847 as a fine ship βfound in Bread-Stuffs, water and fuel, agreeably to Act of Parliament, and as a large number of Passengers are now engaged, immediate application will be necessary to secure berthβ. The ship arrived at St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on Friday July 23rd. In 1847, Warrenpoint was a major port of emigration with 1,947 people travelling to Canada, 448 of these passengers went to New Brunswick. A further 1,009 people emigrated to America through Warrenpoint in the same year.
The poster for the Lady Caroline is on display in Newry and Mourne Museum which offers free entry and free audio guides for all those visiting the museum.
