The weather might have taken a turn, but don’t let that dampen your bank holiday weekend plans!

We’re open all through the Bank Holiday weekend from 10:00 to 17:00 each day, with last entry one hour before closing.

With our displays spread across three original buildings from RAF Doncaster, there’s plenty still to see and do here at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum when the sun isn’t shining!

Out and about this weekend again and this time we’re supporting our friends at the Vulcan Restoration Trust for their open day with XL426 at Southend Airport.

Our Canberra, Meteor, Jet Provost and Tucano Simulator have made the trip to Essex to be displayed alongside the mighty Vulcan and for the Open Day visitors to climb inside!

August is always a busy month at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, and we’ve once again hit the road!

Kicking things off this weekend at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre’ East Kirkby Airshow, we’re attending with our Meteor and Jet Provost cockpits, and Tucano procedures simulator. Located on the flight line, do come down and say ‘hello’ if you’re visiting the show!

Schools out for summer!

Over the local school summer holidays, the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum will be open every day from 10:00 - 17:00.

Perfect for a family day out, we’ve got plenty to entertain the kids from our interactive flight simulators to a selection of cockpit available to enter, and the always popular ‘dressing up room’!

We’re out and about this weekend helping to support Armed Forces Day 2026.

Displaying at the Worksop Armed Forces Weekend event, we have the Jaguar, Canberra and Misfire cockpits while Doncaster Armed Forces Day Celebrations have the Scout helicopter and parts from newly arrived Bolingbroke.

We’re pleased to support our serving Armed Forces personnel and Veterans and thank each and every one for their dedicated service.

Now that the dust has settled, we’re looking back on a fantastic weekend at our first ‘Cockpit Gathering’ event.

Firstly, we want to start with a huge thank you to all of the visiting cockpit owners and exhibitors for supporting the event, and helping to make it a success. To our Volunteers for days of hard work setting up, supporting our visitors and putting everything away afterwards. And to our visitors, these events are for your enjoyment and it was great to see so many people making the most of the weekend.

A lovely bit of Nimbus noise from Scout AH.1 XV130 as we kick off this weekend’s ‘Cockpit Gathering’!

All the fun of our usual ‘Open Cockpits’ events, but with added visiting displays and exhibits from around the country. Open until 17:00 today, and 10:00 - 17:00 tomorrow, we’ve got over 20 of our aircraft open to climb inside this weekend and extras!

The cockpits are arriving for this weekends ‘Cockpit Gathering’…

Alongside our usual Open Cockpits event, we’re being joined by an extra 10 cockpits from around the country including a Sea King, Piston Provost, a Pair of Lightnings, Harrier Simulator and more!

Taking place this weekend at the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum, we’re open from 10:00 -17:00 Saturday and Sunday!
