Looking forward to Dinas Powys Open Studios this weekend. Thrilled to be exhibiting in St.Peters church Old Cogan, although the lack of picture hooks has been a little challenging ! Hope to see you there, Matthew and I will be opening the door tomorrow at 10 am.

We hope you enjoyed our ‘meet the artists’ series’! All our artists are busy getting ready for the open studio trail in just over three weeks! Who else is excited?

Last but certainly not least we introduce Jane Streeter ‘I have always enjoyed painting and drawing and now with more time on my hands I attend various courses and joined the Dinas Powys art group. Gradually, with guidance I developed my own style. I paint mainly in acrylic and my work has a common theme that uses bold line and colour with a strong light source.’

Our penultimate artists is Jayne Isaac ‘I have always drawn, in charcoal and pastels, but took up painting twenty years ago. I now do most of my work in acrylic. My subject matter is varied but I love light, colour and texture. I exhibit annually with DP art group and elsewhere and have had a solo exhibition in 2021. I have also produced art works, jewellery and bowls in fused glass and will have some of this available.’

Today we meet Tina Simmons-Roe ‘I have been an active member of Dinas Powys Art Group group since 2018. During the pandemic I had an art studio built, where it gives me great pleasure to create art and experiment with new techniques’.

This evening we introduce our next artist, Sian Warr ‘Obsessed with all things wool, Sian creates hand knitted and crocheted items in original blends of wool, creating tactile and unique gifts.’

Now the celebratory weekend is over we will resume our meet the artists! Tonight is Janet Blackman ‘Graduating with a 1st class BA honours degree in Fine Art in 2018, Janet is now working to define her style by exploring conceptual themes, materials and processes which will enable her to deliver work that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but provokes conservation.’

Tonight we meet Chris Miller ‘I am a local artist who has only been painting for just over a year. I have no formal training and only picked up a paintbrush during a period of illness, prior to that my painting experience had been painting by numbers and the outside of my sister in laws house! Since I’ve discovered I really enjoy painting, I’ve not put my paintbrush down.’
