Last chance for FREE admission for local residents at the Museum of Free Derry this Monday.

Monday 31 August is the final day of our summer offer, giving residents the opportunity to visit the museum completely free of charge.

Students can also enjoy HALF PRICE admission throughout the summer.

'A Bitter Harvest: The Good Life and Unresolved Murder of Derry GAA Man Seán Brown' is now on sale at the Museum of Free Derry.

The book was launched at the Museum during Féile at an event organised by the Pat Finucane Centre.

Written by Garbhán Downey, it looks at the life of Seán Brown, his murder in 1997, the investigation into his death and his family’s continuing campaign for truth and justice.

Copies are now available from the Museum of Free Derry.

📣We're Recruiting: 2 Community Curators📣

The Museum of Free Derry is delighted to partner with the Migration Museum on their Community Curators programme; an initiative bringing diverse voices into the creation of exhibitions exploring local migration stories. These displays will be shown at partner venues in Spring 2027 and will help shape the Migration Museum’s permanent home in London, opening in 2028.

The 2 Community Curators at the Museum of Free Derry will work together to create a display reflecting on the themes of 'migration and language' (inclusive of Irish language).

Our friends over at Museum of Free Derry in partnership with OUTing the Past International Festival of LGBT+ History have loaned us their 'Queering the North' exhibition on display in our Foyle centre.

'Queering the North' is The first ever museum exhibition dedicated to an expansive reading of the history of the LGBTQIA+ community in the north of Ireland/Northern Ireland from 1967 to the present day.

Based upon the work and recollections of a range of leading activists and academics, the exhibition includes a piece specific to the history of The Rainbow Project and a history of LGBTQIA+ people in Derry/Londonderry.

Be sure to pop in, between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday over Foyle Pride Festival (August 19th to 29th) while this piece is on display.
