Announcing the Surface Gallery Award winner:
Beachcombing
Molly Rogers
"As with my medium, the subject of my work varies considerably, but this always links back to my own personal experiences: experiences of being a disabled woman, of being a part of the natural world, of being part of a community and a family or simply of having lived a life that is unique to me. My recent work has been engaged with the idea of memory; I have an archival urge, fuelled by my fear of forgetting, so I have been exploring the idea of preserving the ephemeral."
Surface Gallery Surface in Nottingham is an independent, non-profit, and volunteer-run contemporary art space based in the Creative Quarter on Southwell Road. Founded in 1999, it supports early and mid-career artists through exhibitions, studios, and events, offering affordable, experimental space for artistic development.
