A little while ago Freeman Johnson Solicitors asked if they could use the gallery as their venue for a networking event, we were more than happy to say yes and we have to say that the evening went really well and was enjoyed by everyone who came along.

They arranged for tasty nibbles from The Deli House Darlington ....Drinks were served and lovely photographs were taken by Geoff Perry.
It was really lovely to see some of the local businesses come together in the gallery, everyone was full of enthusiasm for our town and it was such a positive atmosphere.

‘Crag’ Haystacks. By Graham Vasey

‘On a murky day in late April, clouds hung heavily across the fells above Buttermere. As we set off on our day’s objective, the small but rocky fell of Haystacks, still clear of the weather. But no sooner had we started to climb the rain came in, blotting out the views and soaking through our boots! On trips like this I usually travel light, choosing more compact camera gear. With me on this occasion I’d brought my little Rolliecord which though small shoots 6x6cm negative on 120 film with pin sharp lens.
Thankfully the incessant damp didn’t reach my camera and as we descended towards the Warnscale bothy the cloud lifted, revealing the vast expanse of striddle Crag and Fleetwith Pike rising beyond….A view too good to resist!!’

‘Silent Protest’
Standing tall, human-like but not, the Silverback clutches what is left of his forest. A golden branch, cut down and discarded by man, for greed with no thought for the future. In silent protest he makes his stand.
