🛠️🔥This Week in the Smithy🔥🛠️

We were delighted to welcome Jim & Esther Smith to the Smithy this week after they won a Blacksmith’s Experience Voucher that we donated to the Tees Valley Combined Authority’s Visit Tees Valley Taste & Experience Stand at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show.

Jim and Esther each enjoyed a half-day in the Smithy, getting hands-on and learning some of the traditional skills of the blacksmith.

They both decided to make themselves a keyring as a lasting reminder of their day with us.

We hope you both enjoyed your experience, Jim & Esther — and perhaps we’ll see you back in the Smithy one day!

Today we were clearing out the filter tanks at Tees Cottage! It’s a mucky but necessary job so thank you to all who participated!!!

Our beloved Teddy Bears’ Picnic is back!

🧺 Teddy bear picnic lunches are £5, available to collect from the cafe.

🛠️🔥You couldn’t make it up. Stuart did a blacksmith experience last Wednesday and he only went and one another day in the smithy when he bought the winning raffle ticket at the Cockerton Carnival on Saturday. Well done Stuart! 🔥🛠️

The winner of the Blacksmith Experience Tees Cottage Pumping Station was ticket number 6 blue outline & was Stuart Newton - well done & thank you everyone who bought a ticket ♥️

We had a brilliant day at the Cockerton Carnival today!! Thank you to everyone who came and said hello!! Especially thank you to volunteers Arthur, Trevor, Ruth, James, Sinéad, Pam, Martyn & Steve who helped setup, run and tidy up the stands!!

⚒️🔥This week in the Smithy🔥⚒️

Stuart used his birthday gift from his mum to spend the day in our heritage blacksmith’s forge.

After learning basic blacksmithing skills in the morning, he tackled a larger project in the afternoon. Under the guidance of our experienced volunteers, he forged his own decorative bird feeder using traditional techniques.

Stuart left with new skills, a unique handmade piece, and memories of a great experience at the forge. Happy belated birthday, Stuart!
