New events! On Saturday 21st June Dawes Twineworks volunteers will be joining us in the courtyard to demonstrate rope making and inviting you to have a go. We also will be joined by a retired local thatcher who will sit and chat to you about his work. We have photographs, books and tools to illustrate the skill of thatching that hasn't changed in centuries. Bring the family along and get involved! These are free events celebrating our 25th anniversary.

It may be a rainy week but there's lots to smile about at the museum! Our new exhibition "Industries Past & Present" will open on Saturday. We are grateful to local businesses - Ariel motors, Wydale Plastics, Harwoods builders, Bonsoir, ARK at Egwood and Wayford vineyard for their contributions. Visit us on Saturday 10am-3pm for FREE COFFEE/TEA and CAKE and a chat to our volunteers. We welcome new volunteers to join us, and help when they can, to fit in with their lives. Museum volunteers bring various skills - local knowledge, DIY, gardening, organising paperwork, baking cakes; the list is endless and not necessarily related to history! Call in for a friendly chat! We look forward to seeing you.

Book Launch Friday 6pm. Our researchers have brought together information, originally used for a Talk, to create our latest publication about East Street House. Those of you who remember Ramus House as our local residential home for the elderly, or if you visited the dentist at this site, cannot fail to be curious about the history of this beautiful property that has been brought to life as a family home. Join us for the launch this Friday and enjoy chatting to the researchers while you drink a glass of wine. We look forward to seeing you!

Volunteering - is it for you? At the museum we don't expect our volunteers to be there every week, sometimes a session to fit in when it suits you is best. We are looking for new volunteers - stewards, researchers, publicity, maintenance, catering. We have a happy group and keep it all going but know that, as time goes on, we need to ensure the future of the museum and heritage centre. On SATURDAY 7TH JUNE 10am-3pm you have a chance to join us for coffee and cake and a chat about how you could be part of our group of volunteers. Be sure of a warm welcome!
