Amazing live performances at Consett Heart - Heritage and Arts Centre in September upstairs in our theatre space.

Saturday 5th September is our monthly Open Mic, Cabaret & Karaoke evening. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. It's and . Just turn up on the night and have fun either on the stage or as an enthusiastic and supportive audience member. Next on Friday 11th September we have the amazing Heather Leech starring in Anne Boleyn's mother from Gleowit Productions. This is going to be excellent for all those interested in history. We have a theatrical duo of events coming up upstairs in our theatre space in the next couple of weeks:

🦖Firstly this Saturday we have one aimed at the kids - it's Fossil Fury the new show from our friends at ATOMS Education CIC.

A prehistoric school visit like no other. Find out what happens when Miss Dinah Saur and Mrs T Rexly take the kids on a school visit to the Do You Think They Saw Us Museum.

Expect the unexpected and raucous roarsome fun. It’s silly, interactive, fantastically dinotastic and surprisingly educational.

🫅Then on Friday 11th September we have the fantastic Anne Boleyn's Mother starring the amazing Heather Leech from our friends at Gleowit Productions.

The final instalment of a trio of plays featuring women who figure in the centre of English history and whose voices have never before been heard.

Wednesday 13th October 1537 another ordinary day except a new queen, Jane, has given birth to a son - an achievement beyond compare in Henry VIII’s court. Elizabeth, Countess of Wiltshire keenly feeling the loss of her son George and her daughter Anne, previous queen of England, struggles to find cause for celebration even though she fully understands the treachery that is within the English court. On the path to greatness her losses have been heavy, were they worth it?

She is Anne Boleyn’s mother and grandmother to the motherless future Queen Elizabeth I.

Thanks to everyone who supported our recent Sheila Mackie Memorial exhibition. We raised a staggering £648.50 from hanging fees, commission and raffle. Your support is awesome.

We still need to work towards our goal, every penny counts. Help us continue being the place for heritage and culture in our community.

The Sheila Mackie Memorial Art Exhibition

What an amazing fortnight we have had. Over 400 people through the door and a good number of art pieces sold. The standard of art this year has been outstanding.

There were 3 prizes this year including best overall newcomer which was won by Francesca aged 12 for her Pop Star portrait. The other 2 were Natasha Armstrong for her depiction of "Appleby" fair and Heather Howarth for "Winter".

Thank you to everyone who has shown their work and to everyone who came along to support these amazing artists. I know that everyone here at Consett Heart - Heritage and Arts Centre are so proud to have been able to host such an amazing event. Giving a venue for culture and heritage is what we standard for here at Consett Heart and many more events are planned. The doors are open for the final day of the Sheila Mackie Memorial Exhibition here at the Heart Centre. Here’s a sneak peek of some of the wonderful artwork in our downstairs gallery, and upstairs is full of beautiful work too.

Want to see them all on both floors up close then you have till 3pm this afternoon.

Pop in and have a cuppa and a chat whilst you browse the art.

There's only today and tomorrow left to come in and see the amazing Sheila Mackie Memorial Exhibition featuring the beautiful work of loads of local artists.

We're open from 12pm-5pm today (an hour earlier than advertised then your final chance will be from 12pm-3pm tomorrow.

We have the final week of the amazing Sheila Mackie Memorial Exhibition featuring two floors of beautiful artwork from a range of local artists. It's to come in and look around.

Then on Friday September 11th at 7.30pm we have the amazing one woman show Anne Boleyn's Mother starring Heather Leech from Gleowit Productions. This had had rave reviews all over the country.
