What a beautiful and thought provoking painting by the (sadly) short lived painter Paul Riley (1963-2020)
His website remains functional and certainly worth a look, his works really are quite beautiful.

Artist: Paul Riley (1963-2020) British
Title: “The Orange Vase”
Medium: oil on canvas
Size: 213cm x 151cm

Condition: very good but due to the size of the canvas it’s inherited some striation marks vertically -only noticeable really under the bright gallery lighting.
Notes: Studied Fine Art at Gloucester (1982-85) and a post graduate course at the prestigious Royal Academy London. He exhibited at the New Grafton Gallery London and later at Sarah Myerscough Fine Art. He painted still lives on a large scale with the same small coterie of inanimate objects - bottles, pots, cubes - recurring in ostensibly random permutations. He sadly died young at 57 years old following a battle with bile duct cancer. Works in collections include The Prudential, Clifford Chance and P & O Cruises.

A very large and impactful oil of Quayside along the picturesque River Wensum in Norwich town centre.

This is a large painting at 155cm wide so I’m afraid have to make an exception to being able to post worldwide. UK courier an option of course or very welcome to collect from the gallery in Cirencester.

A member of the Suffolk Group Of Artists also exhibiting with the London Group, Thackeray Gallery and Cadogan Contemporary London.

Beautiful 1920s oil on board by this Scottish painter who was the third son of James Paterson RSA. Hamish studied at Edinburgh School Of Art then moved to France before returning to his hometown of Moniaive Dumfries a couple of years before he died in 1955.
He exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy from 1912 to 1949.

Superb painting - another of his works was sold today from the gallery so prompted me to post this one as his works are rare to find so wanted to save it in history !

Notes: Painter in oil, theatre designer, teacher and gallery owner, born and lived in London, who attended the Slade School of Fine Art, 1949-52, teachers including William Coldstream, Robert Medley and John Piper. Stanton worked and designed for the theatre; designed decorative panels for hotels; started and ran the Leigh Underhill Gallery; and became head of art at St Dunstan’s College, Catford.
