🕵️ We’re thrilled to be supporting this exciting new event this September! 🎭.
Magenta Theatre Company has teamed up with the stunning Hilston Park, just outside Monmouth, to bring you an unforgettable interactive Murder Mystery experience.
Both teams have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes to create what promises to be the first of many thrilling mystery events. Better still, 10% of all ticket sales will be donated to the Skenfrith Flood Fund, helping to support our local community.
Step into a world of secrets, lies and hidden motives.
Work as a team of detectives, interrogate the suspects and hunt for hidden clues throughout the beautiful house and grounds. But beware… as the investigation unfolds, unexpected twists and dramatic turns will test your detective skills. Will you witness another shocking crime before the killer is finally caught?
🥪 A delicious buffet lunch is included, giving you the chance to interrogate the suspects one-to-one, compare notes with your fellow detectives before the investigation continues, and perhaps uncover the vital clue everyone else has missed.
🎟️ Tickets are £45 per person or £160 for a team of four. Bring your own detective team, come as a pair, or arrive solo—we’ll match you with fellow sleuths so everyone can join the investigation.

One of our favourite things about the Boathouse is that it brings together so many creative voices under one roof.

We now stock work from more than fifty local artists and independent makers, each with their own style, craft and story.

From ceramics and paintings to textiles, jewellery and handmade gifts, every visit offers something new to discover.

We add new guest artists to our shelves every season, which means even regular visitors often find something they haven’t seen before.

Supporting one small shop here means supporting dozens of creative businesses across the Wye Valley and beyond.

Meet the Artist – Sparkly Mary ✨

Based in the beautiful Forest of Dean, Sparkly Mary creates colourful, handcrafted jewellery designed to bring a little joy to everyday life.

Mary’s creative journey began through a love of experimenting with colour and texture. Working from what she affectionately calls her « smelly shed » 🤣she spent years developing and refining her unique techniques. Early inspiration came from combining varnish with silk and even sweet wrappers, before evolving her own distinctive style over more than two years of experimentation.

Today, every piece is individually handmade and celebrates Mary’s passion for colour, creativity and having fun. No two pieces are exactly alike, making each one a truly unique wearable artwork.

Mary believes jewellery should make people smile, spark conversations and give the wearer confidence. Her vibrant designs are full of personality and are perfect for anyone looking for something a little different 🌞

The kind that make people stop mid-browse and ask what they’re looking at. Then ask again. Then decide they probably need to try them all.

Still made from a traditional family recipe. Still baked properly. Just with a few unexpected flavours along the way.

Meet our latest duty team member & games designer, Libby Jacques ♟️✨

Alongside working at The Boat House Gallery, Libby also runs The Island Society🌴 a Welsh brand creating screen-free games inspired by travel, storytelling, and time spent together.

“The idea came from family- all the card games they’ve taught me. In this digital age, will we still pass them on?”

A roll-up travel chess set designed to be taken anywhere, to a “Hangman Kraken”, a pocket-sized travel game with a nautical twist, and a growing range of games and gifts designed to bring people away from their screens.

“My family has a long history of wildly exciting travels. Growing up on a farm locally, these stories inspired a bigger idea of escape. The brand is an oasis.”
