in 1817, Jane Austen left her beloved home in Chawton for the final time. Here her genius flourished and it is where she wrote or revised and had published all her beloved novels.

She and her sister Cassandra went to stay in lodgings in Wi******er, at 8 College Street, to be closer to Jane’s doctor after a period of illness. She died just two months later, on 18 July 1817.

Today, we’re remembering Jane and celebrating her life and enduring legacy.
