The Surveyor’s Cart, for so long displayed in the Barn, left the Museum this week, with members of the Men’s Shed. It is going for a significant make-over, it will then be used as part of our Carnival display in October. The longer term plan is to use it at other showcase type events

A wonderful visit tonight from Crewkerne Rotary Club, they had a guided tour followed by a chance to go through our photo collection, and finally some lovely tea and cake. Great feedback and comments and we look forward to seeing them again.

Thank you to Nan Sloane for her wonderful talk last night on the life and career of Chards own Margaret Bondfield. The event was very well attended by an enthusiastic audience who were happy to share lots of positive feedback afterwards, so thank you all.

Kids bored? Want to learn about John Stringfellow? Join us at the free Pop-up Planes event on Thursday 6th August between 10AM and 1PM. Organised by Chard Reservoir Rangers in conjunction with Chard Museum, we will be showing how to make paper planes and telling the amazing story of John Stringfellow. There will be a competition for the furthest flying plane! There will also be stalls from the RSPCA, Chard Library and Secret World.
