50 Years of COAM - 1996 🎉
In 1996 we dismantled the lovely green hut from which the Friends of the Museum operate their shop. The Maidenhead Pavilion was originally built in 1926 as a tennis pavilion before being scooped up in 1952 and moved down the road to Riverside Gardens where it became ‘Jenners’ - a cafe. COAM became the pavilion’s third home after the donor Andrew Jenner wanted to expand his operations with a new and bigger cafe.

Over the following years, it was rebuilt on site to become the home of the Friends of COAM shop. Funded by the Museum’s Friends and officially topped out in 1999 by Andrew Jenner, the building continues to represent the vital role of community support in helping COAM grow and thrive.

Pop into Maidenhead the next time you’re at COAM and see what goodies the Friends have – it's another way to support our vital work!

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone involved in our Cavalry and Cannons event this weekend.

The groups from the Napoleonic Association put on a fabulous display despite the heatwave. Lisa and Richard did a great job of organising the event and explaining all the historical details during the arena displays. The cavalry skill-at-arms was amazing, the artillery display was awesome and the skirmishes were spectacular.

A special congratulations goes to the re-enactors who got engaged on Sunday. We're not sure if it was the first proposal at the Museum but it was certainly an unforgettable moment. Thank you for making us a part of your story.
