The Argosy Crew have been awarded “The Most Improved Aircraft 2024” by the the East Midlands Aeropark Committee.
Personally speaking I am very pleased, it’s just 4 years since I joined as a new volunteer with no aircraft experience, so it is very rewarding to be leading the winning team for the last 3 of those 4 years 😎

We stopped painting a few weeks ago and have focused on cleaning the exterior surfaces of the Argosy before water becomes ice! The top surfaces of the wings had 7 years of crud and lichen on them!
Time to draw breath and start planning for another big push next year.

Today was probably the last painting day on the Argosy exterior for this year.
We have moved forward so much in the last 6 months due to prolonged and dedicated team work from so many volunteers.
THANK YOU TO YOU ALL!
The red and white livery is continuing along the fuselage and is becoming very striking to both our visitors and volunteers.
If the momentum from this year can continue through to next years then completion should be insight 12 months sooner than I originally estimated.
I want to press on with the interior work on the front cargo hold over the winter months but this is totally dependent on the airport model being moved out!

It takes time, care and patience masking up but this makes painting easy and the end result speaks for itself!

The Argosy is now showing it’s true colours!
The red and white nose is now complete and will clearly show visitors what we expect to achieve on the rest of the fuselage. This just one of many milestones we have clocked up in the last couple of years.
I am just one cog in the crew and extra volunteers so thanks to them all.

Major work in progress
The Corrosion of the spars, wheel wells and undercarriage has been glass ball blasted away, cleaned down and sprayed with 2 part light grey paint.
The ELAN Running men have been full restored and look resplendent in Carmine Red.
Work continues on the remaining upper fuselage in the race to significantly move it on before the weather decides to start filling the reservoirs
