Carnforth once boasted two cinemas, one on New Street and the one we now know as the Co-op on Market Street.

Does anyone have any photographs of the interior of the Kinema, later Roxy, now Co-op, from when it was a picturehouse?

Do you remember watching a film at this cinema? Did it have a Balcony, or was it just the Stalls? We would love to know.

We would like to construct a working model for permanent display at Carnforth Heritage Visitor Centre and your memories would help us.

We are open every day from 10am until 4pm, including the Bank Holiday.

The home of David Lean's iconic film "Brief Encounter", starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard. Watch the film in our cosy 'Kinema' where you see our detailed exhibition all about the film. Explore our new Carnforth Room and discover how the railway station evolved from a small lineside halt to an important junction.

Carnforth Heritage Visitor Centre is full of interesting displays covering local heritage, the railways and Carnforth's industrial past.

Free entry, although we encourage donations to help us continue to enhance the Centre.

The Brief Encounter Bistro & Bar is open daily.

That's our Spring Model Railway Show done and what a show it's been. A fantastic turn-out of lovely people all helped to make this a record event. Thank you to ALL who visited and took part in this popular event.

Carnforth Heritage Visitor Centre is open daily from 10am to 4pm where visitors will see our improved displays and surroundings. So much work has been recently done to make our lovely centre even better. The money raised this weekend will allow more work to be carried out.

Another day to go for our MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION at Carnforth Heritage Visitor Centre. We had a great turnout yesterday and there's plenty to see for everyone. We've actually got 14 layouts working plus displays and trade support. Come along to this friendly show and bring doggie too.

We're all set up for the Spring MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION at Carnforth Heritage Visitor Centre this weekend. 12 amazing layouts plus Trade support and Club stalls.

Open 10am to 4pm both days with a fabulous weather forecast. Some steam and charter movements around Carnforth for tomorrow to watch out for.

Brief Encounter Bistro & Bar open throughout.
Adults pay just £4 for our popular railway show with U16s and doggies FREE.
