Canvey Island Transport Museum

Canvey Island Transport Museum The museum is a registered charity and entirely run by volunteers

We have an Open day on Sunday 6th September, 10.30- 16.00. Ltd. Ltd, which used it until 1978.

We have an Open day on Sunday 20th September, 10.30 - 16.00, with local craft stalls. This is the official page of the Canvey Island Transport Museum. The Canvey Island Transport Museum is operated by the Castle Point Transport Museum Society, which is a UK Registered Charity. The building that houses the Museum was built in 1934 for the Canvey & District Motor Transport Co. and served a series of

similar companies before passing to the Eastern National Omnibus Co. A group from the Eastern National Preservation Group then formed the Castle Point Transport Museum Society and acquired the leasehold of the depot, later purchasing the freehold. Since then, the Museum has assembled a collection of over thirty preserved commercial vehicles as its main display, many privately owned by members and several owned by the Society. Visitors can see classic examples from the vanishing worlds of chassis makers like AEC, Bedford, Bristol, Guy, and Leyland, and body builders including Eastern Coach Works, Duple, Harrington and Massey Brothers. Many vehicles are fully restored, while others are being rebuilt or undergoing maintenance by their owners or groups of members in our workshops

We are having an open day this Sunday, 6th September, 10.30 to 16.00.
Please come and visit us and take a look at our collection of vintage vehicles and displays. We will hopefully have some classic cars visiting in the morning from the Canvey Island Classic car club.
We can only allow blue badge holder parking on site, on a first come basis, as space is limited. So please park at the seafront and we will be running a free bus link, with one of our vintage buses from the bus stop opposite the Monico bar, on the seafront. Bus normally leaves the museum on the hour and half hour and leaves the Monico at 10 & 40 minutes past the hour. As these are vintage buses we can only carry pushchairs that are folded and can be taken inside the bus with you. The first bus will leave the Monico at 10.40.
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
If you are parking near the museum, please do not park on or across our neighbours driveways, thank you.
