In this edition of the Blogs "Museum News", we have Barry's report on the visit by "Carrotland" members with their Caterham and Lotus Seven cars (including himself). Also, a few photos from Joe of visitors to the Museum.

From the "Teams At The Museum", we have Barry once more, although this time as the reporter from the Paint Team as they continue with their restoration of the Canberra T4 WH840, and other projects.

Under the "Events Information", we have details on the coming weekend and Veterans Day at the Museum, where we have free entry for both Veteran members of the Armed Forces as well as current members of the Armed Forces. Unfortunately we also have to let our visitors know that the proposed flypast by the RAF BBMF has been cancelled due to aircraft unserviceability.

Also in the Events Section, there is notification of the last two booked events at the Museum this year, one of which has free entry to all as well as free guided tours..

On Sunday 23rd August the Museum is proud to be hosting its Veterans Day event at Flixton. We offer a very warm welcome to both Veterans who have served in any branch of the Armed Forces, and current service personnel to come along and enjoy everything the Museum has to offer.

On Sunday we will allow free entry to serving personnel and veterans, provided they can produce suitable proof of being a serving or former serving member of the armed forces. This may be in the form of a valid Service Identity Document or an ex-servicemen’s card, a Veterans Card or something similar.

The Museum will be fully open as usual from 1000 to 1600 on the day. Along with all the aircraft, cockpits and equipment displays, we have dedicated buildings to the 446th Bomb Group, Air Sea Rescue, Bomber Command and the Royal Observer Corps.

If you are feeling peckish, then we have the NAAFI Café for snacks and drinks, plus lots of picnic tables throughout the site.

Bring the family along to a great day out, and we are dog friendly too.

Once we know the time, we will Tannoy across the site and put it on the blackboard outside the shop.

The Museum is pleased to welcome on Saturday morning the 15th of August 2026, members of 'Carrotland', the Caterham and Lotus Seven Club representing the Norfolk and Suffolk areas. We are expecting the Caterham club to bring along up to 20 of their cars.

Come along and take a look at these lightweight open top sports car along with our 60+ aircraft and cockpits and the thousands of artefacts that we have along with our volunteers on hand to describe the artefacts, help you into open cockpits and guide you through the flight simulators.

The Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum is pleased to be able to host our 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗙𝘂𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 on 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Alongside the usual Fun Day activities we'll be joined by our friends from the 𝗚𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 displaying a selection of their models while 𝗧.𝗘.𝗔.𝗠.𝗦. 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗼 will also be exhibiting some of their wonderful creations. We'll also be enjoying displays featuring military reenactment and plastic brick constructions. So much fun to be had!

If you are feeling a little peckish then note that we will also have on site 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗸 & 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿. This is a 1,500-acre traditional mixed farm producing high-quality, ethically reared food with full traceability. We're delighted to hear they'll be bringing a burger van to the Museum for the occasion featuring their own JAGYU™ beef burgers, woodland pork sausages and bacon, all reared with care and cooked fresh on-site.

We are pleased to welcome back by popular demand the Big Modelling Brick Weekend. Yes, this event spans the whole weekend of the 1st and 2nd of August 2026, and we are open from 1000 to 1600 on both days.

The event continues to be a resounding success and just gets better every year. This year we have a plethora of attractions planned run by David Marrs and a number of brick building enthusiasts. The team will displaying amazing creations on a variety of themes throughout the Museum hangars. We are wheelchair friendly, and there is access to all areas, apart from aircraft cockpits.
