Amazing photo Braemar Castle!

A super photo from the time the Braemar Gathering was held at Braemar Castle. Did you know 'The Gathering' was originally held at Braemar Castle? With Queen Victoria in attendance overseeing all the fabulous strong Clansmen demonstrating their prowess. Just look at all those fabulous bonnets!

We are delighted that His Majesty has accepted our invitation to become Patron of the Braemar Royal Highland Society - in doing so continuing a Royal link to the Society and the Braemar Gathering spanning back to the reign of Queen Victoria.

He follows in the footsteps of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Patron of the Society for some six decades.

Since his first visit to the Braemar Gathering in the 1950s King Charles has been a regular attender at the event along with his parents and siblings. He has taken a keen interest in the Society and its activities, in particular the development of the Highland Games visitor centre in Braemar - the Duke of Rothesay Highland Games Pavilion.

Peter Fraser - President Braemar Royal Highland Society.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you are all staying warm and cosy on these wintry snowy days.
Got me thinking about our beautiful exclusive ‘For Kith and Kin’ scarf by Helen Ruth Scarves These are available to buy and have mailed out while the centre is shut for the season.

Helen is a local Aberdeen based artist who creates exquisite designs inspired by nature and stunning colours. Helen came to visit us early last year and took time to really understand our history, the stories behind the Braemar gathering and all the different elements that make it what it is. When the drawings arrived we were blown away. The colours and movement captured games day perfectly. For those that have attended the gathering, you will know how busy and vibrant the day is. Here are some of Helen’s own pictures she took along the way as she made the design, along with the finished product.

Scarves and Prints are available to buy. For enquiries or orders, please email; [email protected]
