During the summer
What a cracking weekend! Started with snow on Saturday and after seeing hundreds of visitors our Santa, Elves and loads of volunteers looked forward to a short rest before doing it all again in a few days time!
Following on from last nights post Mr A has decided he isn’t going to the party. The suggestion that we are all going was too much for him to process as he is used to going by himself with one of the ladies. When something is working you don’t break it! So we will try again next year!
Little Mr F didn’t want to go to his club either this morning. I asked him and his dad asked him and he said no to us both. I’m not forcing him. It’s important he knows if he says no that’s respected when it is possible for the answer to be no. (This is obviously not the case all the time!)
This time of year has a lot to answer for. While it’s a memory to treasure seeing the boys, Mr A particularly, be genuinely excited for Santa coming and want to go visit Santa for the first time in his 9 years and pick their presents for the first time the full change of routines and different things that happen really can throw them all out and I think the boys just needed a quieter day. It’s good they recognise that better now and let us know in their way so we can do it.
We went to see Santa a week past on Wednesday at his visit to Heads of Ayr farm park which they loved. Little Mr F is still unsure but he is getting there. Tomorrow we are going to the Santa train ride at Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway. I asked for some pictures to show the boys and they have very kindly sent these through and they’ve helped to prepare them for a new experience. Hopefully they enjoy it!
This is a photo from heads of Ayr…my wee superstars…

Day 4 of the Green Aspect Videos 2022 Advent Calendar 📅
The Spa Valley Railway - Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent turned Scottish during early-April, as the Railway played host to a bit of preservation history.
For the first time in preservation, CR 439 0-4-4 No. 419 and CR 812 0-6-0 No. 828 were seen in steam together outside of Scotland. The pair were the star attractions for two events - the 'Scottish Steam Up' and the 'Caledonian Steam Weekend', with the latter being a dedicated running weekend for the two sole surviving John F McIntosh designed locomotives! 🏴
The footage from this video was captured from the 'Caledonian Steam Weekend' of the 8th - 9th April, which included solo runs, top and tailing, and double heading!

Enjoy! 🚂😁
Brrrr... it's suddenly got very chilly! ❄️
Reminds us of this timelapse (by Tom Duffin - Weephotos of Edinburgh) showing our Platform Reels audience getting cosy on the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway platform for an outdoor, train-themed triple bill earlier this year. Thanks to INDY for handling the set up, and to our audience for braving the March 'freshness' every year. Time to get a hot water bottle on the go!
As Winter starts to set in, why not check out the Hippodrome Cinema programme for a cosy night at the movies? 🍿
