The Chapel Galleries is a contemporary gallery that is housed within a 17th Century Grade II listed Church of England Church in the heart of Blackburn town centre. The building once housed the Blackburn branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau among other businesses but is now a vibrant arts centre. The Corridor will have a transient and fleeting aspect which will hold temporary exhibitions that will

include installation, sculpture, paint and photography among others. There are also working artist's studios that will be open to the gallery visitors at specific times. The Corridor Gallery is a bookable space for solo and group exhibitions. Past events include an Art Auction, a Photography Show and the site for an open Art Exhibition. We hold free featured exhibitions every third Thursdays for the ArtSPACE event.

Our Story

The Chapel Galleries at The Bureau is a contemporary gallery housed within a 17th Century Grade II listed former Church of England Church in the heart of Blackburn town centre. The building once housed the Blackburn branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau among other community organisations, but is now a vibrant, volunteer-run arts centre. The Chapel Galleries at The Bureau hosts temporary exhibitions that include installation, sculpture, paint and photography among others. We work closely with staff and students at The Department of Creative Arts at Blackburn college who exhibit at the gallery as well as working alongside exhibiting artists to curate, hang and invigilate exhibitions. The Corridor Gallery is a bookable space for solo and group exhibitions. We have an annual programme of exhibitions including Papergirl, an LGBTQ exhibition and exhibitions by our resident artists, with week-long opportunities for exhibitions which enable us to respond to opportunities to work with and exhibit the work of new artists who fit within the values of The Bureau and help us to achieve our ambitions. Decisions about exhibitions are made collectively by the Bureau Directors.
