What a beautiful day to conclude our 2026 season.

Just wanted to thank all of our 116 visitors that stopped by for the Biggar Little Festival Big Day Out. Without you and your support we Volunteer wouldn’t be here.

As the nights draw in and the temperature drop do you ever find yourself wondering about Biggar's first affordable heating and lighting infrastructure?

Pop down to the Biggar Gasworks Museum open NOW until 4:30pm and meet one of our slew of Victorian Dressed Volunteers who will teach you all there is to know about the infrastructure which kept the town warm and lit during the winter! 💡

Or for the younger folk we have a challenging activity sheets! Can YOU solve the word jumble, and help the steam crew locate the 9 flames that have been hidden around the site? 🔥

If any of this intrigues you make sure to visit Scotlands only preserved Town Gasworks on the last open day this year!

At the Biggar Little Festival Big Day Out there is fun and events for all the family across the town.

Scotland’s last remaining town gasworks will be open as a static exhibit on the 18th October to celebrate the Biggar Little Festival Big Day Out!

Open 1000 through to 1630, with FREE ENTRY!

As part of Biggar Little Festival 2026 we have some special activities for kids both young and old.

Help the Steam Crew find the 9 hidden flames around the site and solve the word jumble.

We also have a guided tours, lead by one of our volunteers in period dress.
Tour 1 - 1230 to 1400
Tour 2 - 1430 to 1600

Join our resident Victorian for a guided tour of Biggar Gasworks, Scotland’s last remaining town gasworks!

Organised as part of the Biggar Science Festival 2026 we have a special guided tour lead by one of our volunteers in period dress.

The Tour will begin 1330 on Sunday 13th September.

The Gasworks Museum will be open this weekend as a static exhibit to celebrate Biggar Science Festival 2026! With free entry!

Open Saturday 1000-1600 & Sunday 1200-1600 (last entry at 1530).

Learn about the town gas making process, tour the works at Biggar, Scotlands last remaining town gasworks.

Watch our newly remastered documentary taken at Milport gasworks, the last operated town gasworks in Britain in its final days before closure.

Say hello to one of our friendly volunteers and test their knowledge with any questions you may have.
