I bet you’ve all spent bucket loads of 2ps in here!

Johnny Bingo’s amusement arcade at Spittal Promenade has been entertaining us for generations. Originally built as Forte’s Venetian Pavilion the building has been a Dance Hall, a cafe and of course an arcade.

You can still pop in for a coffee or an ice cream and while away the hours on there 2p machines, or if you’re feeling really flush… the 10pm machines!

Always remember to gamble responsibly!

Do you recognise any of these day trippers?

Here we see a group of Sunday School pupils from Tweedmouth about to head off on a trip in August 1967.

Can you remember where they spent the day?

Last Chance!

You have two more days to see ‘Portrait of a Town’ at the Barracks!

The exhibition showcasing some of our favourite images from the 1950s, 60s and 70s closes on Tuesday 2nd June. Pop along and see it whilst you still can. We have about 40 framed images on display plus a further 60 on a screen so there’s plenty to see. There is also a selection of cameras and equipment too!

The Storehouse (the old Town Museum at the Barracks) is open Thursday 28th May and Tuesday 2nd June - 11am-4pm.

Admission is free.

One Hundred and Eighty!

Do you recognise any members of this darts team? Our index tells us it’s the Roxburgh team back in 1976.

Can anyone identity the pub? The buildings outside don’t match for the Roxburgh. Could it be the Berwick Arms on Marygate?

This is one of 75 images we've just added to the screen at our exhibition at the Barracks. It's open Tuesdays and Thursday (11-4) and is free to visit!

Today marks 100 years since the birth of our late Queen, Elizabeth II.

Here we see the Queen during her visit to Berwick, 70 years ago in 1956. On arrival at the railway station, she inspected a guard of honour of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers before being driven through the streets to the Town Hall.
