Put your collections expertise to work for local heritage!

Dacorum Heritage is seeking an experienced freelance Collections Documentation Consultant to review historic museum records, clarify ownership and strengthen documentation for a collection of more than 132,000 artefacts.

£16,000 fee for approximately 80 days’ work. Project period: November 2026–April 2027. Work based on site in Berkhamsted.

Good news for Dacorum’s heritage!

Dacorum Heritage has received a fantastic £54,814 grant from Dacorum Borough Council to help strengthen the management of our museum collections.

The funding will support a review of our collection documentation and a new Collections Management System, helping us care for our collections and the stories they hold.

Thank you to Dacorum Borough Council for continuing to help us protect Dacorum’s heritage for generations to come!

It’s been a busy Heritage Open Days this last week sharing Dacorum’s his and her stories & supporting the work of the local history societies as well.

Sunday 20 - Meet our ancestors and A Common Ground at Box Moor Trust Festival.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s taken part, our volunteers, our artists Paula Watkins, Kate Walton, Emma Przygrodzka and Jolijn Bronneberg.

Also thanks to Kings Langley Local History Society for the loan of their gazebo, hosting by Hemel Hempstead Library and Box Moor Trust and the Arts and Culture team at Dacorum Borough Council for helping us develop the active hands on history programme this year.

And we’re at Box Moor Trust’s festival today.

See some of the archaeological finds from the area,
meet your ancestors with Anna exploring prehistoric Dacorum and then
be inspired by our shared histories and make a ceramic tile as part of a new communal artwork.

And we’re all set up for the creative art workshop inspired by Dacorum’s high streets, shops and homes at Hemel Hempstead Library led by the wonderful Paula Watkins.

If you missed out on tickets for today we’re hoping to repeat the workshop again.
