Victory over Japan Day - Whilst the Home Front celebrated the end of the war in the Pacific, many service personnel from Dacorum were being liberated from Japanese internment camps. As the months progressed these prisoners of war started to come home and harrowing first hand accounts of their experiences were published in the Gazette.

Today we remember those Dacorum service men who served in the Pacific during World War II.

We at Dacorum Heritage have been asking for a meeting with the council to discuss the future site needs of our charity (which has acted as the museum service for the borough for 33 years). Meeting requests have been ignored or postponed since 2024. At the beginning of July we submitted a proposal to Dacorum Borough Council regarding the Bury, which they acknowledged but still, after over 2 years of asking for a meeting, they have still not actively engaged with us regarding this. We have contacted the consultants with regard to our proposal. Full details about our proposal can be found here: https://dacorumheritage.org.uk/news/the-bury-a-new-heritage-centre-for-dacorum/
