The home of pioneering scientist Edward Jenner. Visit us in Gloucestershire from April to September.

Edward Jenner and the story of the eradication of smallpox shows how we can work together to overcome even the most feared of diseases. At Dr Jenner's House, Museum and Garden, we celebrate Jenner’s achievements and show how curiosity can change the world. We preserve the house and unique garden, entertain and inform our visitors by opening the museum, run educational programmes for learners of all ages, provide worthwhile and enjoyable volunteering opportunities for students and adults alike, and research and share our collections.

🦔 A prickly new resident at Dr Jenner’s House!

While carefully emptying the compost heap, our gardening team discovered this little hedgehog tucked away at the bottom. They have now created a sheltered new home for it between the beech tree and the churchyard wall, where it can remain safely undisturbed.

It feels like a particularly fitting visitor. Edward Jenner was not only a doctor and pioneer of vaccination, but also a keen naturalist who investigated the hibernation of hedgehogs.

More than 200 years later, it seems hedgehogs still feel at home in Jenner’s garden!

Thank you to Nancy for sharing these lovely photographs, and to our gardening volunteers for looking after the garden and all the wildlife that calls it home. 🌿

In a new and enthralling one-man stage adaptation of the classic tale of terror, acclaimed actor Jonathan Goodwin plays both Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde. Journey with us to Victorian London, and experience the unbridled horror of this perennial favourite. The City is paralysed with fear when the repugnant and wicked Mr Hyde embarks upon his criminal spree. But what is his shocking secret, and what possible connection can he have with the dour and respectable Dr Jekyll?

Goodwin performs in a show scripted by himself and co-directed by Goodwin and Gary Archer.

In addition to the performance of Jekyll and Hyde, you will be invited for an exclusive ‘after hours’ guided tour of the Museum.

Doors open at 6:30pm, Tour at 6.45pm with the Performance taking place at 7.45pm (including an interval).

Appropriate for age 13+. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Advanced booking required.

Thank you so much to everyone who has answered our questions about developing the museum. We really appreciate every single comment and we're hearing the need not just to raise our profile, but to transform our relationship with Berkeley through stronger community connections and partnerships, more opportunities for repeat visits, engaging science experiences and a richer programme of events,

Calling all Berkeley and surrounding area folk...

Just a quick reminder....we are developing ideas for a project to re-imagine Dr Jenner's House and we'd love to have your input.

What would you say are the biggest needs or challenges locally?

What do you think are the barriers stopping people from engaging with heritage and science?

What activities, services or facilities would make Dr Jenner's House more valuable to you?

Thanks everyone!
