Our Pride walking tour was a roving success!

This week, we guided our crowd through Belfast to delve into the hidden history of our LGBTQIA+ community that's tucked away in these busy city streets. From social spots to impactful policy, the rich heritage is still unknown to most.

If you're interested in taking part in one of our guided tours, we have another open tour happening soon on the 2nd of August, starting at Writers Square at 1pm. Contact us via DM or email ([email protected]) to learn more about our tours!

This month, we're delighted to welcome Dr. Jeff Evans to the LGBTQIA+ Online History Club.

Jeff Evans is the Research Lead and Project Coordinator for the upcoming exhibition Irish Republicanism and 'The G**s': Cherishing All the Children of the Nation Equally, which will be on display at the Áras ui Chonghaile / James Connolly Visitor Centre in Belfast from 22–25 July, then the Museum of Free Derry from 7–20 August.

The exhibition looks at social movements, exploring how “the struggle for equal rights for le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender and q***r people and Irish Republicanism interacted, intertwined and found common ground".

Offering a nuanced look at an overlooked and under-researched chapter of social history, this talk will explore the connections between the two social movements of Irish Republicanism and LGBTQIA+ activism through the detailed research into a hidden history.

Come join us on Zoom on the 21st of July, 7 pm. Links will be sent closer to the date.

Just a little note that this is my final week working on the LGBTQIA+ Heritage Project 💜
It’s been an absolute privilege to be part of something so meaningful. I’m heading off to a new chapter (yes, the old people’s home awaits!), and I’m delighted to be handing things over to some brilliant younger folk.
You’re in safe hands wee Justine & Olive will be looking after all your queries from here on out. I will be coming back to volunteer occasionally so will see you at future events Joe 😀
