The museum may not be open yet - but there is still plenty to see at Bunyan: The Basement at Bunyan - 'Freedom' is an exhibition of artwork inspired by ‘Freedom’ created by students of the Colour my Future and Creative Futures adult courses at Youth Inspired Bedford.

Their work is truely stunning, and their artist's statements honest, emotional, and inspiring!

Official Opening of the New Leighton Buzzard Railway Station

The new station at the Leighton Buzzard Railway was declared open on 29th October, marking a new era in the history of the project.

Over £250,000 of the £357,491.11 total cost has been raised from within the Railway’s own 430 members and supporters. The balance has come from housing developer contributions to improve local infrastructure, in this case the inclusion of a function room to provide a venue for community groups to use.

The building was opened by Society Vice President Alan Moore CBE, an enthusiastic supporter of the project, and witnessed by guests including local MP Andrew Selous, local councillors, society members and officers of the Heritage Railway Association.

Speaking at the opening, Leighton Buzzard Railway Chairman Terry Bendall said ‘We are all delighted to have our new station at last. It would not have been possible without some very generous contributions, notably from members, and we hope that we have given the town a railway station to be proud of. Thank you to everyone who has made this day possible’.

Plan your visit today - and don't forget that the John Bunyan Museum and the Higgins are also places where you can get stamps in your passport!

Today's fascinating #MuseumOfTheDay is the Panacea Museum in Bedford. The Panacea Museum tells the story of the Panacea Society, a remarkable religious community that existed in Bedford for almost a century.

In the main museum building you can discover how the society was formed, what they believed and how they lived. You can also find out about Joanna Southcott and her sealed box of prophecies and why the Panacea Society campaigned tirelessly for the box to be opened.

On the far side of the museum gardens you can visit No. 12 Albany Road – the home of Mabel Barltrop, the founder of the Panacea Society. The site also has a chapel, 'wireless room' and beautiful gardens.

The Museum is open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10.00 am – 4.00 p.m.

The museum is also open weekdays throughout the year by appointment to groups and organisations.

Have you picked up your passport yet?

Today we are on to our 16th #MuseumOfTheDay and it is John Bunyan Museum.

The collection now held in the Museum was brought together and put on display for the first time in 1946. It was housed in a room which had been used and made secure by the BBC during World War Two.

In 1988 the members of Bunyan Meeting Church embarked upon a project to refurbish some of the meeting rooms and to construct a purpose built museum. It officially opened in 1998.

This modern museum depicts John Bunyan's life and times, including his imprisonment in Bedford. Visitors can wander through the displays and experience life as it was in the 17th century.
