Come and celebrate Halloween at the Herschel Museum👻💫

Hear talks on the myths and legends surrounding the Halloween sky as well as learning about the Moon itself. If clear, telescopes will be available to observe the night sky from the garden. Some spooky astronomers will be on hand to chat about the stars and planets in the autumn skies!🔭✨

Please Note: This event will go ahead even if the weather does not permit observing, as the museum will be open to explore and the Bath Astronomers will provide talks and tours with museum staff. The Museum is on three floors of an 18th century grade listed townhouse, with access to the first floor and basement/garden by stairs only.

We are recruiting for a casual hours Museum Assistant to join our team ✨

We are looking for a reliable team member with experience of working with the public in a customer facing role and has great customer service skills. Experience of working in museums would be useful but is not essential as full training will be given. Providing cover as required at any of BPT's museums (No.1 Royal Crescent, Herschel Museum of Astronomy and Beckford's Tower).

Have you experienced 'The as-yet unseen', our new exhibition featuring site-responsive installations by contemporary Irish artist Grace Weir? 💫

Created in response to the Herschel family’s home, the exhibition considers observation as a form of continuous and highly attuned looking, grounded in the rhythms of domestic life, featuring new works including an embroidered piece inspired by William Herschel’s map of the Milky Way and a live display showing the current distance to Uranus from the museum.
