**Stables Café reopens this Thursday (28th March) from 10am.
Garden gates open for the day and Easter Rabbit Trail for families.**

Malcolm and his local 'A-Team' look forward to seeing and feeding you all through the season for teas, coffees, snacks, baking and (soon) lunch options - and perhaps more options and longer hours in time. They will be doing their own updates on social media, so look out for them!

Also on Thursday the garden gates will be open for free again. Come for a walk and a coffee. There’s a free Easter Rabbit Trail for children and families. Join in and there’s a prize if you can spot all the hidden bunnies!

The visitor season kicks off for us on Friday 29th. Come and get your local season pass (local children free). Your support helps us keep Armadale and local jobs going and the coffee flowing.

See you soon!

Today is International Men's Day!

The stories of individuals enrich the history we share. Read our latest blog article on the stories of three men, each with a very different impact on Clan Donald and Armadale.
One of whom was William Barron, Farm Manager at Armadale from the 1870s. This letter details some of his work with the timber at Armadale following a storm. (NRAS3273/2343)

Christmas Market and Winter Closure Update

We are looking forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike to our Christmas market this Saturday 18 December. We have a wonderful range of stallholders plus warming winter fare in our Stables cafe, and a festive atmosphere both inside and out.

Come along to get your gifts - or treat yourself! - while supporting local producers and your local area. The market is open from 1000 - 1500.

Saturday will be our last public opening day until the spring season begins. We trialled winter opening hours over the last few weeks, but sadly, the number of visitors has been too low to cover our costs. We're a local charity dealing with the same cost of living issues affecting other businesses and individuals across the Highlands and Islands, and we thank you for your understanding.

Local parents: we're keen to support you over the winter, so we've agreed to open by appointment for you to bring your children to our playpark. Group leaders please get in touch.

Venison: we're grateful for the many loyal Armadale venison customers. You can buy quality and low cost frozen venison from our shop freezer by appointment through the winter months. Please email [email protected] or phone 01471 844305 to make your appointment.

See you at the Christmas market!

On Remembrance Sunday, we remember all those who have fought in conflict.

We reflect on the service of members of Clan Donald in history and to the present day.

A memorial in Kilmore Church details the poignant loss of the four sons of the 6th Lord and Lady Macdonald, all of whom served in the Armed Forces.

Somerled James Godfrey – Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve, d 17.04.1913 aged 36
Godfrey Evan Hugh – Scots Guard, K.I.A at Ypres 31.10.1914 aged 35
Archibald Ronald Armadale – 9th Lancers, K.I.A South Africa 17.04.1901 aged 20
Ronald Ian – Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders, d 17.10.1918 aged 31.

The Macdonald brothers are pictured here as children with their sister, the Hon. Iona Macdonald, at Crieff in 1889.
